I want to watch an anime movie with my mom, so I am thinking of something family friendly ish? We tried watching A Silent Voice but its kind of depressing for a family movie night. I'm not very familiar with films so any suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't know what kind of movie you guys watch but the Cowboy Bebop movie is fun. Silent Voice is a good option. It's depressing as you said but it does have a happy ending. Series you could probably watch with her are Violet Evergarden(also sad) and My Hero Academia which is more PG and happy go lucky.

"Howl's Moving Castle" from what I remember it wasn't sad and an adventure movie, it was great.

pretty much any Studio Ghibli film, but the ones I would recommend would be Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo. they're great

Yes, anything Studio Ghibli, specially Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. Kimi no na wa is also very pretty but very emotional
