The Quiet Earth (7)

Hello.

Since a lot of us are stuck inside, it's a good idea to get back to movies.

A movie which is fitting the Corona crisis quite nicely is 'The Quiet Earth' from 1984 (made in New Zealand). It's the progenitor to movies like '28 days later'... the first "what if you're the only one left on earth"-movie, but less flashy and more with that "Donnie Darko" style.

The complete movie is on youtube. Just ignore the weird comments about "banned in 48 countries". The uploader is a creep, but at least he posted the movie:

I don't mind at all. I know none of those, so that's pretty interesting.

I'd say, in a way, Dogtooth is the closest relatable thing as to what can possibly happen after the pandemic - people locked inside and cant leave the house

Zero Theorem is like what the world will become if we dont change our ways so its sort of similar.

Probably the most notable of the list, aside from relating to our current circumstances, would be Primer. The film took less then $8,000 to make. Yes eight thousand lol. and Its the best damn hard sci-fi film you will ever see.

that and The Lathe of Heaven has a lot to do with sudden and intense changes in the whole of reality

Primer is interesting... as far as I can say.
Quiet Earth is the prototype of "28 days later".

As I said, I never saw Primer, so that's an interesting thing for me.
I'm collecting 35mm film spools, so I could offer "WORLD ON A WIRE" (basically 'The Matrix' as of 1972).

Ooo I will enjoy it

The english subtitles of World on a Wire are a bit lacking, but it's still enjoyable.
