Charlie St. Cloud is a 2010 supernatural romantic drama film based on the novel
The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.
Charlie St. Cloud is a sailor who wins a boat race with his younger brother, Sam. He soon receives a scholarship to Stanford. After graduating, he decides that since it's his last summer with his brother he will help him out with baseball practice so he can make the team. They make a promise to meet in the woods everyday at sunset. One night, Charlie is told by his mother to babysit his younger brother and upon sneaking out to go to a party he encounters Sam who is standing right in front of his car. Sam asks Charlie to take him to his friend Tommy's house and at first, Charlie is mad , but he eventually takes Sam along with him. On their way, they get into a car accident that kills Sam, but gives Charlie a second chance. The movie then takes us four years later where we learn, Charlie has been working at the cemetery Sam was buried in, he gave up Stanford, and he fulfills Sam's last wish by going to the woods everyday at sunset to play with him. Soon, Tess, a girl who he graduated with, comes to his attention and from there she effects the rest of the movie's course.

It started off as a great movie, until the girl character, Tess, came into the picture. I really loved the brotherly bond that was being formed and I think it should have been touched upon more rather than the relationship formed between Charlie and Tess. Honestly, every time she came on screen I got pissed because she was ruining things, so overall to me she was a very unlikable character. I mean, they could have replaced her with
anybody and the plot would have gone along so much better. I think it was just an excuse to make Zac Efron have a romantic interest in the film you know for the ladies watching lol. Overall, it was an okay film. I give it a 7/10.
