The Hateful Eight is a (late) 2015 Western mystery film and the 8th film directed by Quentin Tarantino. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern, as, I suppose, the titular "Hateful Eight."
Also Channing Tatum's in it.

The films chronicles the rather fucked up events that take place after eight strangers find themselves stuck together at a stagecoach stopover during a blizzard.

Also of note: the score for the movie was composed by Ennio Morricone, a legendary film composer who's probably most well-known work is probably this.

I made the thread for Django Unchained as well a while ago. Reading that OP, it's more than a little cringe-y how much I used to worship the guy. I'm not as much of a Tarantino fanboy as I used to be, but still, I refuse to be believe this movie has any flaw. You know, even though it actually has quite a few.

Like being basically Reservoir Dogs with a more elaborate setting. And the main "antagonists" (I guess) villainous plot being kinda retarded. And the prologue being needlessly long. Also, the entire fucking movie being needlessly long.

Yeah. Unlike all of this other movies, it's not perfect. Except it totally is. Tarantino has a tendency to fall too in love with his characters and end up leaving more in than he should, but in my book, all Tarantino is good Tarantino. Most of the time he's self-aware enough to cut out what isn't totally pertinent, but with this one, I think he just let himself go a little. But, well, if you're a fan, this isn't really a bad thing; I was fully aware of the problems with the film while I was watching it, but I welcomed his over-indulgence bullshit with arms wide open. I mean, regardless of how silly the plot might seem at times, watching it all play out is just too fucking entertaining.

Went and watched this in 70mm after I finally managed to find a theatre that played it in that version. Aside from the fact that the picture looked different as a result of it being played through an actual projector with film there was about 20 minutes added that Tarantino thought wouldn't translate well to digital film for some reason, as well as an intermission.

The extra footage was interesting, but didn't add anything major. It was just more of a good thing. The difference in film formats was noticeable, though, and the result was that the colours were somewhat more intense, and the film had this raw, grainy, old fashioned feel to it. The white was a bit flashy during the outdoor scenes, possible because my eyes are considerably more fucked than the last time I saw a non-digitally projected film, bur probably because the cinema hadn't played actual film in a while and the projectionists weren't accustomed to it - it was a little weird but it didn't ruin the movie for me. The overall look kinda reminded me of Segio Leone's Dollars trilogy, which I suppose was the desired effect. My bladder was extremely grateful for the intermission, they should be fucking mandatory for any movie over two and a half hours long.

SO yeah, overall, recommended. If you're a Tarantino fan, I'd recommend watching the 70mm version of The Hateful Eight if you can find it.

I saw the Hateful Eight and loved it. It was different from recent Tarantino films, more like his earlier work and kept me tense throughout! Loved it! :)

I would appreciate a return to plot formats similar to Jackie Brown" or "Pulp Fiction".

Guess that's what this was, huh?
(Note: Haven't seen it yet.)

I'd say I thoroughly enjoyed this movie - it was really entertaining in a typical Tarantino fashion.
