The Shining is a 1980 British-American psychological horror film.

Basic Plot from online: Jack Torrance becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer's block. He settles in along with his wife, Wendy, and his son, Danny, who is plagued by psychic premonitions. As Jack's writing goes nowhere and Danny's visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel's dark secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hell-bent on terrorizing his family.

Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance (Dude, he played his part so fucking perfectly. Let's give a round of applause for him!!! 10/10 acting man)
Shelley Duvall as Wendy Torrance (not to be mean but half of the time my mom and I were just commenting on her teeth)
Danny Lloyd as Danny Torrance (REDRUM! REDRUM! REDRUM!

GUYS THIS MOVIE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! I'd seen part of the ending before, but watching all of it. Amazing! I think there's probably a lot of underlying messages in the film that you can't find by just watching once and that's what makes it great. Finding ideas and themes in movies is really fun. Not to mention, the movie is extremely visually appealing. Like this scene or this one (and there's a bunch more)

I like how the movie was divided into chapters. That was really cool. I'd never seen a movie do that before, not like that at least.

I would like to think that while people are watching this movie they really put themselves into it. Try to imagine what it's really like to be trapped in the same place with the same people. It's true horror.

Let me not forget to mention there is a great deal of quotes in this film. =) "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" and of course "HERE'S JOHNNY!!!!!"

I really do think there's more to this movie then just the concept of cabin fever. If you've seen this movie what are your thoughts.

ALSO HERE'S THE TRAILER
I give this film 9/10

There was seriously no thread for The Shining before now?

Anyway, I liked this movie when I saw it.
Not so much now.
Not really a Kubrick fan.

Jack Nicholson's always awesome though.

Not sure what genre this movie actually fits into, it's just kinda it's own thing. And that's fine by me. Why categorize such a great experience by genre? After all, all work and no play makes Isaiah a dull boy.
