Star Wars Theory: Jar Jar is the key to everything! (1)

1 Name: Dethhollow : 2015-11-29 14:14 ID:Xm6KOB7I [Del]

I heard this theory about a week ago and it's been blowing my mind ever since! I've made a post about it on another forum, but nobody's replied yet. So I'll just copy what I have there here and see what you guys think about it. Hopefully the same links and stuff work but if they don't, it shouldn't be hard to figure them out.

I was searching around when I eventually stumbled across a video that referenced a fan theory that mainly originated from this article

[link=https://www.reddit.com/comments/3qvj6w]Theory: Jar Jar Binks is a Sith[/link]

I recommend people read it before commenting, but, basically, the theory is that the reason Jar Jar Binks was so forced into the center of The Phantom Menace is because he's actually a very powerful Sith who was manipulating Palpatine's rise to power from behind the scenes or, at the very least, someone skilled with the force who was a co-conspirator with Palpatine. And, while originally intended to be a dramatic reveal for the prequels along the lines of Darth Vader's reveal, George Lucas decided to ditch the idea after the initial stream of fan backlash at the character. It sounds crazy, I know, but Jar Jar has shown himself to be very "lucky" in the same way that Anakin and Luke were very "lucky" while winning pod races, destroying the Death Star and a separatist-controlled space station, and doing other similar feats as well. Not just in combat, but also in how Jar Jar, someone we're lead to believe is a wandering idiot, is able to conveniently run into the Jedi, lead them to the chosen one (Anakin), become a general and convince Padme to lead an attack, become a politician able to hold political office, AND convince the senate to surrender their power directly to Palpatine.

On top of that, there are a few hints from the man behind the voice of Jar Jar that there were major plot changes that seem to line up with the theory pretty well....
Question:[quote]As far as you know, did George Lucas ever consider making any changes to Jar-Jar Binks in light of the general negative reaction towards him?[/quote]
Answer:[quote]Not to the character, but to the story arc there were huge changes.[/quote]

Here's a bit more circumstantial evidence for this theory. [link=http://www.ew.com/article/2012/02/11/star-wars-deleted-scene-revenge-of-the-sith-jar-jar-binks]A deleted scene is mentioned where Palpatine would be thanking Jar Jar for helping him gain his position, making a potential connection between the two more solid.[/link]
[link=https://mobile.twitter.com/ahmedbest/status/661221044712148993]VA cryptically mentions a hidden truth in The Phantom Menace coming to light[/link] and then [link=https://twitter.com/ahmedbest/status/661245185452474368/photo/1]posts another tweet of a script titled "Jar Jar's Adventure" with a caption saying: "NOW, DO YOU GET IT?"[/link]

Heck, Jar Jar even LOOKS like a freaking snake, always around as he subtly tempts the Jedi to take Anakin in and pushes the galaxy to ruin. Even during his introduction, he's sketchy as heck as he specifically states that the other Gungans "exiled him" for reasons that he refuses to elaborate on. So, with the new film coming out, it's an interesting thought that might be expanded upon.

So what do you think? I feel like this has some valid weight to it and might have at least been the intention from the first movie even if it didn't go anywhere with Jar Jar playing dumb the entire time. Do you feel like this could be legit? Do you think this theory stands up or is it just the result of George Lucas's bad writing combined with awkward dialogue and potentially the VA trolling people? And if you do think this theory is true, do you think Jar Jar being the ultimate chessmaster antagonist is a good thing or do you feel like it takes away from the series? I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this either way.

DISCUSSION ON!!!
