Cat People is a 1942 horror film based on the director Val Lewton's 1930 short story "The Bagheeta." It has a 1944 sequel and a 1982 remake.

Cat People tells the story of a young Serbian woman, Irena, who believes herself to be a descendant of a race of people who turn into cats when sexually aroused. Basic Plot: The movie starts off with us seeing Irena drawing at the zoo. She is soon approached by Oliver and they go to her house. They meet the next day where he confesses her love to her and she confesses her love to him. She tells him the Serbian myth of the cat people and how she is afraid of the same thing happening to her. Even after this weird story, he continues to love her and marries her. Soon after getting married Oliver notices that she has become weird and trouble (internal conflict for Irena, external conflict for everyone else) follows.

Great movie! I needed something to watch during Halloween and this was it! The myth is really intriguing and Simone Simon plays her part very well. She truly embraced the role of a cat. I liked the way it was shot, especially
this scene. Chilling. The thing about this movie is that unlike other movies that was visually scary (pop-ups, blood, getting attacked), this is something you can just imagine. It's a film you can imagine and that's what makes it scary, because overall, if you're looking for that gore or those pop-ups, you're not going to find it.
I rate this movie 10/10, besides the fact that the two main characters fell in love in 2 days (and that can totally be overlooked because that's probably how life was back then), it's a great movie. I hope you watch it.
