Paprika is a 2006 Japanese animated film based on Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel of the same name.

It is about a research psychologist, Doctor Atsuko Chiba who uses a device, the DC mini, that permits therapists to help patients by entering their dreams. At the start of the film, we see Detective Toshimi Konakawa's dreams. When he awakens we see Doctor Atsuko Chiba as her persona in the dream world, Paprika. In the next scene, Paprika is back to normal as herself and we are in the facility where Doctor Atsuko works. She and the person who created it, Doctor Kōsaku Tokita, learn that someone has stolen the DC mini and is using it. The rest of the movie is a search to find who has taken it.

Ok, so there's a lot to take out of this movie, but telling you might just make the experience dull. I will say this as disturbing and strange as it is, it's very creative and it's like a journey through your mind. The scene-by-scene play of the movie is really breathtaking and you just gain a real appreciation for not only the concept, but the animation of the film as well.

I say watch it, it's only 1 hour and a half, what have you got to lose.

It's really a great animation, like most of Satoshi Kon's work. A must watch movie for anyone who really apreciates something depper and autentic.

I love this movie so much. Ghibli vibes, but with its own unique style - I recommend it to anyone who likes psychological thrillers, surrealism, and anime in general. 9/10

Paprika is really good, I really recommend it.
If you enjoy his psychological "explorations" Perfect Blue is also good for you (it is by the same director). I think that was the movie that put him in the spotlight.
After Hayao Miyazaki he is one of my favourite animation directors.

Paranoia Agent is an anime by Satoshi Kon which is also a psychological thriller. There is also a pretty potent, yet subtle, social criticism in it as well.

I've watched this movie at least 5 years ago. Seriously the scenes confused me out but in the end I understood the story

I saw this hoe in the Paprika movie, it was pretty good. I especially love how the fat guy got together with that chick, my dream <3

sounds interesting, if it was made by the same studios that made Tokyo godfathers then it must be good!
