I didn't see a thread for this but correct me if i'm wrong. What are some of the most over rated movies you can recall? These movies weren't bad, per say, but they definitely got more than their share of attention.

The Harry Potter series and The hunger games series.Way too popular and the books are better.

3 Name: Hibiscus : 2014-09-03 12:41 ID:UIvXlsQZ [Del]

To be honest, Frozen is WAY too overrated. The hype was too big for a movie that was so mediocre. Disney has done better movies. I really don't understand why people think Frozen is so good. :/

Definitely agree. "best thing since the lion king" ..yeaaahh no. Good but not that good.

>>3 Tru dat. Frozen was good but in the end it was just "good". IMHO I think Lion King is Disney's Best, but I could be wrong.

The Incredibles... so boring.

2. Red Balloon
3. Trainspotting
4. The Breakfast Club

Hmmm I'll say the Batman movie from the 80s. Aside from the fact that it did bring a more serious dark Batman into mainstream instead of the campy style people were used to thus the film does deserve some credit, but as an actual film I thought it was kinda....eh.

Avatar. Special effects and CG weren't enough to get me interested.

Frozen. Haven't seen it so I'm probably being unfair but I honestly refuse to even watch it because people won't stop treating it like it's a revolutionary film which I freaking doubt it is. But tumblr loves anything with women in it that aren't sexualized so of course they overworship it.

10 Name: Lovely : 2014-09-20 19:28 ID:tUeScwdz [Del]

Lucy everyone was saying it would be so great and when I went to go see it, it was totally stupid and unrealistic at all. So my dad says, "It's science fiction." So I reply, "Yes, but it should still be believable to a certain extent." Lucy definitely wasn't believable and the ending was stupid. The plot was stupid, too. You should watch it to criticize it, but I wouldn't recommend that movie to anyone.

>>10 Science fiction should have one reasonably believable facet of science that can be semi-false (eg, can use more of her brain) but then everything resulting from that should be 100% legit. Like, vision would get better (a lot better), but you wouldn't be able to see information traveling to people's phones.

Like, what the fuck was that shit, seriously.

12 Name: Salzamoz : 2014-09-22 03:30 ID:CV48PUSD [Del]

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, but I seriously think "Frozen" was overrated. Like its a wonderful movie for little kids and all but i'm in high school and everyone in my year was going on about it. So I decided to watch and I really don't understand what all these grown-up kids are going on about, seriously.

13 Name: Lovely : 2014-09-22 21:54 ID:tUeScwdz [Del]

>>12 I totally agree. I mean I think maybe it's the whole fact that people want to be in the bandwagon that they think it's cool. The only thing I like about "Frozen" is the songs. There's nothing else that's great about it. Sure, it's got it's funny moments, but it's not something that I would expect everyone to rave over like it's the best animated film ever. Seriously, it's not that great.

i think frozen is the only disney movie that the true love involved relationship between sisters..
just saying

15 Name: BlueWorld : 2014-12-25 23:48 ID:+iUyilZ+ [Del]

For me it's remakes of Disney princess movies with real people acting in it and they add "twists" in the movie.

16 Name: Neige !h45CN3bvL2 : 2014-12-26 07:59 ID:8BhbuCd2 [Del]

Unpopular opinion time.

Fargo. I've tried a few times, but I can never finish it. I don't know what it is. It's not good, it's not bad, I just can't watch it.

The Dark Knight Rises. Messy story, annoying aspect ratio changes, crappy plot twist, overhyped, too long, and a bunch of other shit I don't like about this one. Still enjoyed it for what it's worth.

>>9 I have to agree with you on Frozen and Avatar. I saw Frozen and liked it just fine but the hype for it has gone for far too long now. Sad thing is that because of the over glorified hype it's making people hate the movie entirely.
In Avatar's case the graphics were pretty, but the story is a tale EVERYONE has seen before in movies like Dances with Wolves or Ferngully so it got boring pretty quickly.

Fargo's one of those hit-or-miss flics. Can't blame ya.

Same with Trainspotting and Breakfast Club. I mean, cult films are cult films at the end of the day.

Another one is District 9. All my buddies were like 'OMG aliums funny accents and the dude barfed on his cake roflmao!!!1" but meanwhile the production values were a schizophrenic mess. Ugh...

Oh my, so much shade being thrown on Frozen... not that I don't get it, it really wasn't revolutionary for Disney in any way. Not only did the plot make no sense (where did Elsa's powers come from? Why was Anna also locked in the castle if she didn't have magic? Who was ruling the country when the king and queen were dead and the princesses were locked away??), Disney has made way better movies with more interesting characters, like Mulan and the Lion King. Honestly the only reason it's so popular is because Let It Go is a really good song.

This thread is basically the "Frozen is overrated" thread. And it's not that I don't agree, but hearing it everywhere is getting annoying. It's just keeping the movie from getting old.

Annabelle and Ouija. Worst. Horror movie. EVER.

Both of them are so muddled, out of place, and are definitely NOT needed. Boring and just plain conceited.
And guess what? HIGHEST GROSSING HORROR MOVIES of 2014!

I miss the days when it took EFFORT to make a good horror films; no shameless jump scares or anything!

Star Wars.... That's right, I said it. Come at me bro! jk

I loved it when I first discovered it in first or second grade, but I really don't understand the hype and Fandom that still exists. The acting and story really are mediocre at best imo.

The real Trilogy is the Matrix.

This is the best example ever. Movie was so damn horrible.

>>33 through >>42

All of these weren't bad, but none of them were remarkable. I literally slept through the fist 45 minutes of Interstellar and still got the entire story. They could have just not included a third of the movie, and there would have been zero impact. It might have even improved due to a major complaint being how long it was.

>>70 Everything Michael Bay is overrated. They make money because EXPLOSIONS!

And now for my addition to the list!

Slumdog Millionaire, Million Dollar Baby, and the one that people will disagree with me on... Inception.

Inception doesn't give any basis for what a dream really feels like. It's just a bunch of computer graphics, and slow-mo. It's a beautiful movie, but it doesn't really do what it set out to do. At the end of the day, you got a shell of a story with a lot of pretty graphics.
