I was wondering if anyone has watched Trier's trilogy, Antichrist, Melancolia and Nymphomaniac. Slightly disturbing but beautifully made movies. Something you'll like if you liked Side effects, or Donnie Darko.

Melancholia is literally the most depressing movie I have ever seen. Such a good film.

Thought about watching Melancholia today, I didn't.

Am I missing out on something?

I liked it, though. You should give it a go.

I just had a thought about that one, actually. Like, I was thinking about how crazy sensitive quantum mechanics and shit is when you think about things like spin and all that business, but the though was basically about what the actual practical implications of astrology would be in that light, considering things like the fact that Jupiter's magnetic field extends beyond fucking Pluto, in the cases of things like "Mercury retrograde" and crap like that.

And well, it occurred to me how fucking crazy such a thing would be, having such an enormous mass suddenly rapidly entering the gravitational field around earth, and how probably every living thing would be able to feel that shift, even if they weren't quite aware of it (but I mean that would HAVE to have a noticeable effect, right? I need to do more reading about it).

I guess it kind of makes the film make a bit more poetic, but the thing is I kinda don't really remember the film actually saying anything like that, only that they could feel the atmosphere shifting from having been disturbed, but like, wouldn't they be feeling the same forces that disturbed and ripped away part of the fucking atmosphere? Like, in their bones and shit?

It was a thought.
