There's been a whole lot of hype surrounding the Attack on Titan series so far as the anime series premiered a two or so months ago. But with all the excitement surrounding it, most people have forgotten that a live action movie for it has been planned and was announced a while back whilst the series was still only a manga.
There has been little news about the film, but recently, the official website for the film has confirmed that the Shingeki no Kyojin live action will premiere in 2014.

For those of you who don't know, Shingeki no Kyojin is about a world where the remnants of the human population live inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the sudden appearance of the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. The story centers around the life of Eren Jaeger and his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, whose lives are changed forever after the appearance of a colossal Titan brings about the destruction of their home and the death of their mother.

Glad it's not just me who knew this manga/anime, can't wait for the live action (but man 2014!? that's too long)EREN!!!

Yeah, apparently they've been working on it since 2011, but the director was fired and replaced with someone else because of a difference in opinion? I'm pretty excited to see how it'll turn out though.

I hope it doesn't turn out like Last Airbender *shudders*

to be honest, I'm a bit skeptical. i honestly don't think it will work out all that well, i think they are better off leaving it as an anime and manga, but if they do make the movie, it hink it is better off being animated, rather than live aciton.

Honestly I loved Attack on Titan due to another giant monster film... Pacific Rim. And I was probably the only one in the audience who thought building a wall in Pacific Rim was a bad idea cause of Attack on Titan. So while I am a bit skeptical on how it could be done I think it could work if they put passion into the story and adapting it to live action. Pacific Rim being a kaiju homage film really worked and was one of the best movies for me of this year. Only thing is I wonder if Titans can look as good on the big screen and if people will be willing to want to watch grotesque monsters-since even though they are all terrifying I know most people might be put off watching giant naked people wreaking havoc.

I love this show!!~ I'm a bit wary of a live action film because most of them have not been successful. I also heard that they might be bringing in foreign actors instead of all Asian actors because in the anime and manga Mikasa is actually the only Asian left in existence, so all Asian actors would ruin the whole thing.

Based on the trailer it looks like it is taking place in a east Asian setting which is kind of off putting giving the effect of the German culture on the story.

Yeah, I think the whole cast being asian might be a bit confusing considering the original setting. No offense to them, but this is like trying to make a Fullmetal Alchemist live action with a full asian cast, it's just too odd because both have germanic settings with only slight undertones of the asian culture such as Ling in FMA and Mikasa in Shingeki no Kyojin. But, if the actors do well, I might not mind as much, I'll just be confused if they don't explain why they all have germanic names. The Titans are where I'm a bit more concerned. They will more than likely be CGI, so that means that they have to make sure it's done properly otherwise, it could completely deter the fans if the Titans look too out of place in the actual fight sequences and various Titan related deaths that occurred throughout the manga and anime.

I really want to watch it, and it is going to be weird sort of on the aspect that the only real reason Mikasa was special to begin with was that she was Asian, and Asians are incredibly rare in the AoT universe. So, that's going to be weird, but I'm going to hold out hope.

Just saying-live action Japanese car commercial featuring titans trying to eat humans in vehicle. This is no joke, seen it with my own eyes! Titan CGI was pretty decent, but the facial structure is still a little on the cartoonist side.

I saw the movie poster of the live action movie and the titans where like on the horror side with the pale complexion and such. But I guess it would be a good movie. The poster says that it will be on theaters on August.

And Levi... he's got a moustache, but I'm fine with it because it matches his personality to a certain extent.

So, I heard the movie is not going to be remotely close to the anime or manga in the way that uhm well... Mikasa and Eren are a thingy thing and I don't ship that because it's like incest to me. So. I want to watch it, but I want to watch it burn.

I have seen the movie and has its flaws.... But some is good and some not Im pretty sure that they were trying to put every major ship possible. It would have been better without andy pairings.

I just wanted to say that I saw the movie a few days ago, aaaaand I'm disappointed. I didn't have high expectations from the start, but I was still disappointed.
Ignoring the fact that *SPOILER* (or not, lol) Levi doesn't exist in this movie (fact that annoys the hell out of me, since I'm a huge Levi fan), I didn't like the movie mostly because they changed so many things and kinda deviated from the original material. And thanks to their changes, some things just don't make any sense now. And I didn't understand why they focused so much on the relationships between the characters (especially the relationship between Eren and Mikasa), because that's not the point of show whatsoever. Speaking of characters, not only they did not look like the originals at all(understandable tho), but they didn't fit their personalities either. I hated Mikasa. In my opinion, they got her so wrooong. Eren didn't seem like Eren neither, he lacked his spirit and his passion. Like I said before, I am disappointed with this movie, but tbh it's extremely hard to make such a film after an anime which amazed so many people.
