"Argo" chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis-the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA "exfiltration" specialist named Tony Mendez comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country.

I really liked this movie and kinda can't beleive there isn't a thread for this, seriously.

I really, really want to see this movie. I was gonna watch it at the theater when it first came out, but decided to see Looper instead. My reasoning was Bruce Willis > Ben Affleck. But after all the acclaim it's recieved, I'm now really interested.

Finally got around to watching it and I highly recommend it. It's really good! Lot of tension throughout the movie with a splash of humor in the beginning during the whole preparation stage. It's all about the suspense and drama, if that's what you're looking for. I sort of wish there was more of a buildup for Affleck's character, because it didn't really go into why he decided to do what he did, except that it's what he does (which I find hard to believe that someone would risk his life just because it's his job). You can correct me if I'm wrong, because I watched it at home and I may have missed something.
As a side note, I'm gonna say this because I noticed a lot of hate on the film because of the under-representation of some key people in the rescue. It's just a movie folks. I've never seen a Hollywood film stay 100% true to the actual story if it's based on a real event. It was fun to watch and that's all I expect from it. If you're like me and you didn't know about what happened in Iran, this movie should just make you curious about it to want to look up what really happened. It's relatively close to what really happened, but if you want accurate portrayals, then I suggest you look for a documentary or something.
