Well, since the
original thread for this show sucks ass, I've taken it upon myself to create a better one. Yes, I've read the FAQ, and I'm pretty sure that's cool. Right?
How I Met Your Mother is 2005 American sitcom created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, with episodes mostly directed by Pamela Fryman. The show is currently planned to run for 9 seasons, the 8th season currently airing on CBS.
Set primarily in New York, the show follows the social and romantic life of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), along with those of his friends, the lawyer Marshall Erikson (Jason Segel), his wife and pre-school teacher Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), news reporter Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) and the one, the only (occupation unknown),
Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris). The shows premise is indeed a unique one; it features Future Ted Mosby (voiced by Bob Saget) recounting to his kids the story of how he met their mother, the identity of whom is the driving force behind the series. Subtle hints are dropped every so often, but her identity is as of yet unknown.
Usually, I'm not too fond of sitcoms at all. Most of them are pretty much the exact same thing, albeit different characters and settings. But How I Met Your Mother is just different. It's quirky and light-hearted, it has an uncommonly interesting premise, it's characters are actually lovable, and most importantly, it's actually funny. Come to think of it, the series is almost flawless. The only real problem that I have with it is that it's too long, so the premise starts to feel a bit tired. Seriously, 8 seasons and they STILL haven't told you who the freaking mother is! But for some, that might even be seen as a good thing, really.
