It seriously astounded me that we didn't have a thread for this yet.

A slight edit on Wikipedia's summary:
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a 1986 American comedy film written and directed by John Hughes. The film follows high school senior Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick), who decides to skip school and spend the day in downtown Chicago. Accompanied by his girlfriend Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) and his best friend Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck), he creatively avoids his school's Dean of Students Edward Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), his resentful sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey), and his parents. During the film, Bueller frequently breaks the fourth wall by speaking directly to the camera to explain to the audience his techniques and thoughts. It became one of the top grossing films of 1986 and was enthusiastically received by critics and audiences alike, spawning several memorable quotes and lines and becoming a staple of comedy movies for generations onwards.

Ferris Bueller is one of the best films of all time, hands down, and if you've never seen it, it needs to be on your to-watch list. Undoubtedly a classic in movie history, the film is just larger than life.

Which is almost a shame cause ya know...life moves pretty fast...

What do you guys think about the theory that the movie is just inside Cameron's head?

Ok, I watched this today in English class.

Well, I'd say it's pretty good. My mom described it to me as humor for smart people and I asked her if I would think it was Breakfast Club-y, because you know John Hughes filmed both movies, and she said I might and I might not, but that this movie was way better than the Breakfast Club and that I wouldn't think it was, as I like to say, "impressionable." She knows me so well, because I thought it was great. =)

I mean it's not the best movie I've ever seen, but it's definitely very funny and entertaining. So what I mean to say is, you don't ever lose interest in the film even if it's not the greatest.

I didn't like some parts of the film. For example, the whole thing with Mr. Rooney hating this kid so much to the point of intruding his house. That just doesn't happen, but it doesn't lose it's humor even if it's not believable. Quite a lot of the parts aren't believable, but even so, it doesn't lose it's quality in making you laugh, so I think that's what keeps it from sucking.

I don't like Cameron. Gosh, I hate Cameron. Such a pushover. Maybe I should hate Ferris for treating him like that, but of course, there would be no movie without Cameron lending him the car and whatnot.

And the ending, I liked it but at the same time I didn't, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone of course XD

Lol, so I rate it 6.8/10. Mostly because I didn't find it to be very realistic (it's plausible, but maybe 1/1,000,000 chance lol) and it wasn't a great representation of high school (imo, most high school movies are bad representations of high school).

This was my favorite scene. <3

>>9 my mom says I wasn't supposed to look at the movie like it was realistic ;-; because it was satire. I know, but...when something is realistic, idk, it makes it so much better. She said, "Well, what about Ferris? I highly doubt he could get on top of a parade float." But I argue that Ferris is the person made out to be larger than life, his character is the most developed and so, I feel like Ferris is just this amazing person, so it's okay if the things he does aren't realistic...lol.

Also, my mom and I both think Sloan's actress was very pretty (lol, only thing we agreed on). =)
