I don't think there's been a thread made for this yet. I think.
Anyhow...

Les Miserables is the motion-picture adaptation for the musical sensation that is adored world wide and viewed by millions. The director of The King's Speech, Tom Hooper, is directing it and award winning actors and actresses will be starring in this film.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption—a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

I watched this movie and absolutely loved it. I didn't care if they were singing throughout the whole entire thing, I thought it was beautiful. It had me crying pretty hard at the end.

The ending made me cry... my friends don't get moves unless it has explosions every 5 seconds, so of course I have nobody to talk to about how amazing it was.

Cried my eyes out when Anne Hathaway sang I dreamed a dream. And at pretty much the rest of the movie. Absolutely loved it. So manh heartwrenching feels that I loved so much. An easy 5 out of 5 stars for me

I really liked this movie. Although I haven't seen the musical adaptations and only read about 70 pages of the original novel, I still thought it was a good film. The music was wonderful and some of the characters were great. Overall, I enjoyed watching Les Miserables.

I heard it was really good and I would love to see it.
I've always had a place in my heart for musicals ever since childhood.
I would love to go but I must be really selective of who I take with me.

It's not a problem that they were singing pretty much the entire time. That's how it was in the musical, so I didn't expect any different.

It was beautiful. I cried during "Come to Me" and at the end, and my eyes were watering up for most of the second half of the movie.

Anne Hathaway was truly amazing. Samantha Barks did very well too (and she's one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen in my life). Russell Crowe was better than expected, though he stopped acting when he started singing. I was kind of disappointed by Aaron Tveit, but maybe that's just because I just saw the musical at the National Theatre and their Enjolras was amazing, so I had high expectations for the movie Enjolras.

Overall, it was beautiful and moving--just like the musical.

>>7 I wholeheartedly agree that it was a beautiful and moving film!
I also thought that Anne Hathaway and Samantha Barks performed very well, singing and acting. Russell Crowe was okay, but I think he sounded more like an actor trying to sing. And Amanda Seyfried was... well, not satisfactory in my opinion. Her voice was a little to thin for my taste.
I cried at many parts in the movie actually, but cried most at the ending. Actually, I think I started bawling when they sang "Do You Hear the People Sing" in the finale.

Bump because I really would like to see this. Older version was great, book took a year to read (I would avoid reading it for a while, but then come back to it - it goes into the life history of even the minor characters and aaargh), overall storyline is wonderful.

Most boring movie I have ever seen. I Hate it.

>>10 I agree. It wasn't really interesting, but that's probably because I'm young and can't appreciate art. *cough cough*
also, what's that square with 'sage' next to?

I thought it was good. Russell Crowe can't sing to save his life, but if you get past that, it's an enjoyable film.

It was great in the aspect of cinematography; since it was a movie, it was tight to see the places come to life, the actors acting, and so forth. Russell Crowe might not have been the best singer, but the acting portrayed Javert pretty well, imo.

Awesome movie, the non-musical version is much better though
