Should Spiderman be in the next Avengers? (12)

1 Name: Yoshida : 2012-11-26 15:35 ID:ze7c6mHY [Del]

Just asking, do you think spiderman should be in the next avengers? would like to know if you dollars members think he should. Personally I don't think he should as he would be practically useless as building would constantly be destroyed making his web slinging useless (unless somehow his web can attach on to clouds xD)

It's a actually a problem of who holds what rights. Spider-Man movie rights belong to Sony, not Marvel, so they couldn't really include him in any of their movies even if they wanted to without sorting that out first.

And this question should have been asked in one of those two movies' threads.

I... I don't think so.

I love Spiderman but I don't think he would fit in with the Avengers, he's to awesome for that!!

Spiderman is canonically part of the Avengers, if I'm not mistaken. Although, there are several incarnations of the Avengers, so I'm not sure which one the movie plot is going to follow.

It may be a matter of obtaining the rights, but in all honesty I doubt they would skip out on the opportunity to join in on the Avengers movies while they're still immensely popular. A company has no reason to turn down additional revenue.

But yes, no point in making a whole new thread just to ask this question. It may have been confusing as to which one it belongs on, but the answer to that is "either."

Although he may have been an Avenger canonically, he definitely would not fit in with the movieverse Avengers. Given that they're all adults, teenage Peter Parker would not fit in too well.
And I agree, Spidey would be useless, as what exactly can web-shooting do that they can't obtain with other skills?

Technicly in the series "Ultimate spiderman" He is supposed to lead the new breed of avengers so I can't say much as that. Otherwise his combat will be a tad "Cheesy"? Eh, Not sure.

I don't get where the useless thing is coming from really. He's an Avenger in the comics so he must be doing something right.

And you know, Hawkeye is a dude who shoots arrows and Black Widow is just a regular (although very skilled) secret agent. All kinds of people can be Avengers.

This is why they rebooted the Spiderman Saga, originally. So that they can place him in with the Avengers.

>>9 Was it really the reason? I don't remember reading that anywhere, but it would be a reasonable conclusion.

>>6 I don't see what that has to do with fitting in with the group. It's not like there's an age requirement, the point is he's a superhero, so he must have his own uses. And the fact that his abilities offer similar things that others would doesn't rule out the idea that he could fit in with the group. You could argue that Thor's strength fits the same niche as the Hulk, and his flight fits the same niche as Iron Man - the point is it doesn't hurt to have more, similarly capable people on the team, unless it's actually the number of members that is a problem.

I think that he should, especially seeing as Marvel has gained some of the rights to the Spider-Man film licence back. I think that Andrew Garfield would fit in really well with Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth. If the Spider-Man stay as consistently good as The Amazing Spider-Man and don't ruin the character then I believe he should be in the next Avengers film. He could bring his knowledge of biology/chemistry to the team and would be good at ending a situation quick.

I just wanted to say that it doesn't really matter who's in the Avengers as long as Cap approves of it. And i do not know everything about who owns the rights, but last time i heard both are still owned by different film companies.
