(I honestly have no idea where to post this, but it seems most fitting to be in "Films")

A lot of you may or may not know that Disney bought Lucasfilm about about 4 billion dollars, which has entitled them to anything "Star Wars" that Lucasfilm had. So what's the first thing Disney announces? It's "star Wars: Episode 7"

"Disney's latest acquisition and the announcement of "Star Wars Episode 7" is easily one of the most energizing and polarizing pop culture announcements in recent history. A seventh film in the "Star Wars" series has long been rumored, and soon, it'll be a reality, under Disney's supervision no less."
Above segment can be found here

Well, taking into account what Disney has done in the past, making big hits like "The Avengers" and "The Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, this may turn out pretty good. But then again, look at the new Tron.

"The buyout is Disney's fourth largest deal ever. It's behind the $19.7 billion, $7.6 billion and $5.2 billion buyouts of Capital Cities/ABC in 1995, Pixar in 2006 and Fox Family in 2001, respectively, says S&P Capital IQ. It tops the $3.96 billion Disney paid for Marvel in August 2009."

Well, Disney sure has money to buy anything and everything.
Anyways, what's your opinion about this resent news from Disney?

I just hope "episode 7" is set in the future of the last movie (like 25-50 years or even 100 years after). Because doing a prequel what happen between the 3rd and the 4th movie will be a waste of time.

Agreed.

To be honest, I didn't know about this. I heard rumors of a new Star Wars movie in 2014 or so... but Disney bought it? I didn't see that coming...

OT: I can't wait for Episode's VII, VIII, and IX. I've been waiting since Episode III and now it will finally happen.

>>5 News about Films. Fits both. It's here now, don't say shit. It's not clear cut.

Anyways, I dunno why they'd want to make another movie. Or how. Maybe they'll adapt some of the comics. Or something.

>>7 If your referring to Star Wars, yes, they said VII, VIII, AND IX. If your referring to Tron, They're working on the second film now, and will begin filming in 2014 supposedly, the third film was mentioned somewhere, but I can't remember where. And you have to admit, as with most series these days, its probably gonna end up a Trilogy.

>>8 Just answered your question above.

>>9 Considering the actor's ages now(referring to the Original Trilogy cast), they could easily adapt the New Jedi Order series of books and turn those into movies, or they could tell original stories.

While I have no source on this, there a rumors that George Lucas will donate most of the 4 billion dollars that he got in this deal. As to which charity he might donate to, is still a mystery, but ones George has donated to in the past include "The Make-A-Wish Foundation" and "Down with Cancer" So those 2 might get it.

And to think it was cool at one point to hate this man.

I'm upset... I always viewed the 6 movies as complete. But oh well. I guess some people were upset at the prequels as well. I guess the best thing to do is to sit back and enjoy the ride, no matter how it goes. It may even be good, but we'll have to wait and see.

21 Name: Xros : 2012-11-04 16:21 ID:KXmDuFoF [Del]

>>20 I thought the prequels were great movies. How Obi-Wan Kenobi became the master he was, the rise of Anakin Skywalker and his fall into Darth Vader, and how the Jedi were once the protectors of the Galaxy were all fantastic ideas to be shown as movies.

Yeah, I mean I don't dislike them. I was just pointing out that some people were upset and we're likely to see the same thing this time around as well. The prequels were obviously in different tone than the original trilogy, which is probably why some fans had a problem with them. Though that may be justified because of the darker tone of the prequels.

It whispers "Kill me".
