Personally, I am only watching this because of Kozue and Ikura.

The OP provided a really loose description of the show that really doesn't even go into the plot itself.I'd go as far to call it false, as the heroes aren't even fighting IRL, they're just deluding themselves.

If you haven't watched this, seriously look into it.The show's what you get if you mixed Welcome to the NHK with Super Sentai (The original Japanese Power Rangers, if you're not familiar with the franchise) and then add The Truman Show in there.Although if you are going to watch this, you should watch some Sentai first, since there's a whole bunch of trope jokes and references.
The characters are fantastic, especially Akagi, the main character.
I will warn you though, use the Overtime subtitles and avoid TV-Nihon like a plague.TV-Nihon WILL ruin all the jokes in the series with their subtitle style.
