hello, check it out they are making a live action movie of Rurouni Kenshin (AKA Samurai X) and i just wanted to tell you about it. no one knows much about it but what i do know is that its coming out on august 25 2012, it's supposed to be released internationally, and that it's produced by Warner bros and Studio Swan. other than that nothing more is known about it, no one even knows what it will be about. but here is a pic of Kenshin from the trailer (PS you can watch the trailer on youtube). -Anime

i agree the trailer is badass (though i wish it was in english, but the anime/manga are orginaly japanese so it makes sense that it's in japanese) PS on wikipedia it said they were releasing it internationaly so they probably will

With the right initiative... and the right imagination, it's possible to turn any manga into a feature-length film. No one has had either of those things so far, but I hope these guys do.

So the Rurouni Kenshin movie is out and subbed. I watched it just today and really enjoyed it, more than I expected to, really.

The plot covers events from the beginning when Kenshin meets Kaoru until the attack on Kanryuu's mansion and saving Megumi. A few things get changed to fit the time frame of course, but none of the changes feel off. The casting is pretty spot on for all the characters, Takeru Sato makes for an almost perfect Kenshin in my opinion. The movie also looks great and has really cool and well-choreographed fight scenes.

It's not without flaws, but as far as live action anime adaptations go, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. It's definitely worth the time to check out.

This movie was really amazing!

It's showing in my country was supposed to last only for 5 days. But due to insistent public demand, it was extended to two weeks, I think. And it was supposed to be shown here last October, but due to some problems with the producer they had to move it to December. I'm so glad I waited patiently for this. :)

I hope they make another one. :)

Really great live action adaptation of the manga. i know of Samurai X anime but not really a big fan of the manga. The film exceeded my expectation. I guess it has something to do that it is japanese who made the film because of this movie I new about Takeru Sato XD. Really amazing portrayal of Himura Kenshin :)

I've watched it! Well, it was quite good as the potrayal of the characters is really amazing, but somehow, the story were quite different from the original manga/anime. I hope there'll be a sequel for this movie.

Well, they had to condense the first three arcs of the manga into a coherent plot with a proper villain and end duel. They did a pretty good job of it, they made it work and didn't have to wreck Watsuki's work.

Though I'll never understand why they went with Gein and Banjin instead of Aoshi and say, maybe Shikijo as Kanryu;s guards. (That'll wreck the whole 'Aoshi revenge' thing and first usage of the Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki...)

Maybe they didn't intend to make a sequel for this? I mean, if they went with Aoshi and his gang, then the entire "Aoshi Revenge" storyline has to be covered in the sequel, right? Well, I still hope there'll be a sequel tho.

Fantastic movie, a must watch for anyone, especially fans of the series. Of course since it's only 2 hours it can't account for everything in the Manga, but it really does it justice in the time it has. WATCH IT

I just gotta say out of all the adaptations of comic books or manga the 2012 Rurouni Kenshin movie really excelled at it with flying colors. Truly this is the definitive Kenshin brought to life, no where else asides from maybe the original anime, will you find a perfect on screen Kenshin. All the actors portrayed their given characters with top notches, the story adapted and blended for the time limit was great, and it had it's feel good vibe that Rurouni Kenshin ultimately has despite it's darker elements. I'd say it was the best movie of 2012, yes even better than The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, The Hobbit Part 1, and all the other "bests" of that year.

And they'll be releasing 2 new rurouni kenshin on 2014~! ♥

^ Yeah I'm interested. But like with Pacific Rim I haven't seen a lot of news on it or watched many trailers or making videos so I can have a clear viewing of it when I see it.

It's been mentioned in passing >>27, but there will be a two-parter sequel the the first Rurouni Kenshin movie released in summer of 2014. The installments will be called Kyoto Taika Hen (The Great Kyoto Fire) and Densetsu no Saigo Hen (Legend's End) and will cover the manga/anime's Kyoto arc. Sauce

I really enjoyed the first movie so i hope the sequels don't disappoint, but before that I really think I should rewatch/read some RuroKen because I don't actually remember much of what happens...

I kind of want to watch this film, but I think a remake of the anime and then make a bunch of anime films would have been better. :P
