Although I wasn't very taken with it, I'd like to see what they will do with it.

Here's some info on it:

Actually, The Hobbit is the prologue that leads to The Lord of the Rings.

It follows Bilbo Baggins during his youth when he acquired the One
Ring, and explains all his journeys. I had the game of The Hobbit ._. I recommend against the game, its too hard.

I recommend the 1977 animated adaptation of the book.

I recommend the book.

Out of the entire series, this was the only book I read. Funny enough I never expected it to be a movie, now that it is I can't wait! I'm excited about the goblin tunnel parts *shuts mouth before more spoilers*

I've been waiting since I can remember! My mom read my siblings and me a lot of Tolkein books whilst we were growing up. If you haven't read the book, I suggest it.

Anyway, I'm going to camp out for this!

Surprised no one's bumped the actual thread for this (despite it being without a picture or description), so I might as well.

The movie was amazing, first off.
From the storytelling and variation of characters, to the incredible visual effects, this movie brought all the excitement from the original lord of the rings series and wrought it anew. Of course, there's going to be two more movies, as they're trying to make these lead into the lord of the rings trilogy. (Of course, that means they added something that wasn't in the book, but I'm sure you'll find out what's new when you watch it).
Of course, that means they also skipped out on a few parts (it's Mirkwood, btw.). For the rest of it, however, they kept rather impressing accuracy, even up to Gollom's riddles.

While I can't tell too much without spoilers, I assure you it's definitely worth a watch (or several, if you're so inclined).

A film shot mostly in New Zealand and it's still released late in Australia. Typical.

I have to agree with Black on this one, despite the fact that I haven't read the book, but I can already tell that this is going to be a trilogy. If I am wrong, please do tell, I am willing to listen.

>>18 apparently it's been confirmed it will be a trilogy although having read the book I'm still not sure where they are planning to cut of the second movie.

At first I didn't think there was enough to make 3 movies but after seeing the first one it makes sense now. They added and changed a couple of things but nothing that would really throw fans of the book off the bandwagon. I'm really excited that they're expanding on Dol Gulder and the necromancer cause that should mean they'll include the battle in Mirkwood as well as the main one the end of the story.
Out of curiosity does anyone else here know who/what the necromancer is?

Just saw it in 3D 48fps and regular, I don't know why some people hated the 3D so much, it was the best 3D movie I've seen so far... The allusions to stuff from Silmarillon such as the reference to Ungoliant. You know you read to much when you understand decent elvish. XD

Sauron, the general of Morgoth I believe

I'm really surprised there isn't more discussion about it !

I found it just wonderful, I was like "OH MY that's so beautiful, so wonderfuln so.. wooow" during all the movie. I also read the book before watching the movie and I was so surprised, most of the scenes int he movie were just exactly as I had imagined them while reading the book.
At first, when I heard about the fact that there would be 3 movies for that 350 pages book I thought it was a bit too much and I wondered if that was a god idea.. but after watching the first movies I changed my mind and I think it's a pretty good thing to make 3 movies, if the 2 next are as good as the first. It permits to put a lot of details I suppose, that's great.

So I am really looking forward for the 2 next movies !

I loved The Hobbit and I don't mind that it's split into 3 parts which are 3 hours long. I seriously don't see whats the issue. Have you ever thought that they needed the extra money because it cost so much. Plus, I have a crush on Kili XD.

27 Name: Dakoren : 2013-02-09 14:43 ID:ilCZN7jJ [Del]

>>26 It costs a lot but it makes even more money in the end you know. x) So the cost isn't a problem at all I think.

(but I agree, I'm glad there will be 3 movies ^^)

I got to see it twice, once in a regular 3D theatre, the second in IMAX.
I nerded all over the IMAX theatre, it was bad.
