Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa takes place at the end of the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime series. SPOILER ALERT: This movie takes place after Edward gets trapped on the other side of the gateway (our world) after trying to revive his borther Alphonse's body.

Edward finds himself living in the year 1923 in Germany with Alponse Heidrich (the Alphonse that lives in our world apposed to the world of alchemy) and studies rocket science with him hoping that in some way he can use it to get back to his world. Meanwhile in the world of alchemy, Alphonse searches for a way to get Edward back from the other side of the gate so that they can be reunited once more as brothers.

This was an amazing conclusion to the Fullmetal Alchemist series and I felt that it should be mentioned. It has its happy moments and its sad moments and the bitter sweet ending adds to the effect of how great this movie is. I suggest seeing it!

You know, I'm confused as to why so many animation movies don't get posted in the animation board, but here instead. I get that they are technically 'films', but animation stands for the entire medium and as a result should include any formats. It makes sense...right?

But anyway, I found that this movie was a pretty unimpressive sequel to the series. It seemed to me that it made too much of an effort to have as many things happen as possible and have almost everyone make an appearance. It gave a bit more closure, yes, but overall it was just very all over the place. And it made a few really awkward choices in characterization (I'm looking at you, depressed eyepatch!Roy). Pretty much unavoidable if you're a fan of the series though, after that ending, and still enjoyable enough despite its flaws.

>>2 It could go in either one, so it doesn't matter.

Fantastic because in all honesty I thought the original FMA series was better (still liked brotherhood though).

I love the part with the boat and alphonse's head. I die laughing every time I see it.

i preferred the original FMA over Brotherhood. i couldn't even get through the first few episodes of Brotherhood. in the end i just gave up on it. but i agree. The conquerer of Shambala was an awesome movie :D
