This is the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR-kP-olcpM okaaaay i really want to see this movie!! it looks so well-made, and according to rotten tomatoes (critic website-thingy), it`s gotten amazing reception. What i want to know is if anyone`s seen it, and if you have, that you give yur opinion (: ahem, but no spoilers please
I just saw it, and the only complaint I could find is that the main plot is a little too coincidental and not that realistic, but it is a fictional movie. It may not seem like it at first, but the film really is about movies in the 1930-1940's. It is one of my favorite films of 2011 and will easily become a cult-classic!
I just became aware of the fact that that this movie will be coming out in cinemas where I live in April. I was upset for a while, but started feeling better when I found out that the DVD is getting released at the end of this month.
Still pretty set on actually going to see it in the cinema when it gets here, seems pretty worth it.
Saw this in 3D during winter break. A much better movie than I anticipated - it had a relatively simple, contained plot, but it portrayed its message very well. It wasn't an enormous adventure, and it wasn't a pretentious drama. It was fun, and had a child-like feel and perspective to everything, giving it that unexplainable nostalgic feel.
On top of that, the aesthetics were simply amazing. Everything was so vivid and detailed, and the music was really great. Even in 3D, where the effect is typically garish and intrusive, it was very subdued where it needed to be, and tasteful.
Definitely one of the best movies to have ended the year with. I highly recommend it.
Bump. Hugo was such a great film, and especially (>>5) because of the wonderful use of visual effects. The 3D was effectively utilized, making the viewer feel a part of the scene rather than being assailed with the cheap gimmicks of most 3D films.
