Just thought I'd make a thread for one of the best TV shows that ever happened on TV ever.

Game of Thrones is an HBO production based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin. It started airing in April 2011 and currently has one 10 episode season. The second one is scheduled to begin airing starting April next year.

Set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, where "summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime," Game of Thrones chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among the kingdom's noble families as they try to take control of the land's throne.

It's graphic, unapologetic, brilliantly acted, complex and simply awesome. You're kept on the edge of your seat every episode and get drawn in more with each one.

By the end you'll realize how eerily fitting the tagline is. Because "when you play the game of thrones, you win or you die".

I just finished watching season 2. It was still very good, but I feel like it didn't match up to the first one in terms of enjoyment, for me at least. Or maybe it was just that after finding out that anything is possible at the end of season one, I was left less willing to get involved.

But it still always keeps on your toes, this show. Not to spoil anything, but you never know who is going to go down next. Your favorites are never safe. Ugh.

I was watching and reading the series at the same time but I lost my book. Actually I lost the entire series because it was on my kindle which may have been stolen or something.

This thread needs more posts. I just finished the first season, and it was awesome. I do have one question however... (SPOILER): WHY CAN'T SEAN BEAN SURVIVE ONE EFFING FANTASY SERIES???!!!!

Nope this has nothing to do with Beowulf, and for what its worth I think its a great fantasy series (imo its quite hard to pull off live action fantasy without looking silly).

ugh, too much rape in this series...makes it hard to keep watching, and definitely still not reading...we'll see how season three (tv) goes...

If you haven't read the books you are in for a treat, I'm so excited for season 3, the third book is by far my favorite and most of readers favorite.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, oh god you'll cry, you'll change your mind about some characters and you'll start hating others.

You'll also know that there are other douchebags apart from Joffrey.

Iam waiting for season 3, by pictures i think that it'll be awesome.I finished reading all books 4 month ago so now i have to wait for TV series. But if u really like this series u must read books, bcs it have way more better and longer story.

Did you see ? HBO released a trailer extended. Its basically the same as the first, but 20sec longer. You know, when you can't wait anymore, 20 more seconds are really GREAT. *I'm dying of waiting*

On my way to meet my mom on mothers day, I saw one of the actors of this show. It was the short one, I don't want to use the word might, but that's my best way to describe him. I was in the cab with my sister and her boyfriend and when I pointed him, the boyfriend just yelled out his characters name and 'GAMEOF THRONES' to him. He looked mad, and my sisters boyfriend can be a jerk sometimes...

A lot of fans seemed so revolted. I mean truly revolted, and almost insulted G. R.R. Martin for that last episode. I agree that it was quite a shock (particularly for non-readers I suppose) but hey, this is Game of Thrones, not a Disney movie.
I wasn't prepared for it and cried like I never cried watching a TV show, I even thought I hated the series too but... also I love it so much and it is partly for that. Nobody's safe there, and justice doesn't seem to win.
I first found this season quite boring since nothing much happened in the first 8 episodes, but then the 9th episode came like a bomb and now I just think the director is a genius.

I was kind of spoilered for much of what was going to happen unfortunately. I mean I knew separate pieces and as the episode went along they all connected in my mind.

So all things considered, I wasn't really all that affected by the episode. I can't really get emotionally invested in this show anymore to be honest, I don't know if it's a defense mechanism on my part or if it's the show's fault.

What the fuck, JEYNE WAS THERE??? In the book she doesn't even go to the wedding because Robb knows he'll get mad if you Walter insults her. Also, apparently she is a completely different character in the show, some foreigner rather than a lowerclass lord. Woah, world shocked.

This last season's soundtrack was finally released and omg it's wonderful. It gave me shivers, and it's better than the ones from the first two seasons.

And aaw the last episode aired yesterday. Gonna watch it today, but I'm afraid of what's gonna happen.

I'm so excited to the coming season 5.

I've read all the books and watch all the episodes. I always noticed the huge differences (like killing off characters not yet dead in the book; adding/changing characters not in the book; shifting the roles of the characters in the series; deviating some important event in the book; and so on) but still I'm always excited and happy to watch the series because it's just simply great. Not to mention I really like Kit Harington as Jon Snow and Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran.

It's nice that the Film is different with the book, so they who already read the book can enjoy the different..

By the way, do you think the film will skip for a few years? so some young actors will be replaced with old actors ?? like Arya and Bran?

But fortunately, Bran's character is a limp, thus, somehow they can make a deception as to Isaac Hempstead-Wright true height by covering his legs when he was seated. As to Arya, as far as I can remember as to the last season's finale, I think she still fit to play her character, since as oppose to Isaac, Massie is not fast-growing.

Sophie Turner also became a little mature in appearance, though I don't think it will be a disadvantage for her character.

I can't wait for the new season i have the date marked, I'm reading the books right now and they are a little better if your into reading. Does anyone have any predictions for the opening?

I'm sad that the tv show will overtake the books. Soon the power of spoilers I had over my tv show only friends will shift against me!

yea the series was great, it's a shame it ended with so many cliff-hangers. The Night king getting his dragon and all that stuff, it's a shame we don't know what happens next.

I loved the series minus some of the changes they made from the books. The books themselves are my favorite series ever, and I absolutely love them, would recommend if you enjoyed the show.
