i dont think they could really capture the essence of durarara in the time restraints of a movie, it would still probably be a pretty good movie but i doubt that it would live up to the shows awesomeness or our (the fans) expectations

If it was a retelling of the same story? No. Durarara's plot wasn't as simple as a normal work of fiction, multiple points of views and threads going on at the same time with each affecting the other. Hard enough to portray in a 24 episode anime, most likely impossible for a two hour movie.
Now a live action movie based on one particular story line I could get behind, heck, even a completely original script based on the series would be interesting. Has to be classy, though.

I was thinking about this the other day; I was trying to come up with actors who could portray the characters well; so far I've come up with Angelina Jolie as Celty, the actress who played Knives in "Scott Pilgrim" as Anri, the black guy from "Talledega Nights" as Simon, and maybe Shaia Lebouf as Matsaomi. I'm saying for it to work, they don't need it original. That they would need it to be connected in ways, so they can actually make a movie. Drrr, is just so 'split' with so many people's stories, that no original story for 1 movie would work. Unless they did movies and movie sequels, and still they would need some other stuff from the actual show or Novel, to build on for the first.

That would be awsome if in the movie all the caracters r in a crisis and the enemy is a demon monster who happens to be from Celty's past! an old nemesis! and the only way to deafeat it is if everyone works together! But the catch is that the enemy can predict everyone's moves ahead of time! so the characters find a weakness and use it! Cool Right!
