So has anyone gone to see this movie yet? I don't want to spoil anything, since it just came out 3 days ago, but I thought it was a great movie.

Some background. It's supposed to be a series reboot for the original Planet of the Apes movie series, and if you don't already know that the plot of those movies centers around a world ruled by really smart apes, you're a little late and I don't feel bad about spoiling just that.

I thought they did a great job actually establishing the foundation and buildup for what ultimately happens. I'll admit I was on the edge of my seat a few times in the movie, be it from suspense or actual empathy for what was happening at the time. It's hard to go into detail without giving specifics, but I highly recommend watching it to see what I mean. I may be suffering from post-movie hype, but I'd say this was one of the best movies to come out this year.

I plan on watching this movie. The CGI for the movie looks stunning.

This movie was really good, but the ending sucked so BAD! Brace yourself for that.

It has a very scary element and developed at an acceptable pace. The ending was kinda mehhhh though.

The ending is meh until you see the stinger during the credits. It isn't supposed to be a catastrophic, explosive, climactic end, given the sort of emotional buildup it has. I thought it fit well, following the previous scene(s).

It's implied that the events following, that being the apes' takeover in the original Planet of the Apes movie, happens over a span of time following these events. It would be too much to shove into one movie sequence, though I do think they're planning on making this a series reboot altogether. I think we can expect to see more movies after this one.

This movie was truly the best of 2011 not only in ambition and special effects but story which really made you feel as if this could actually happen. And unlike many of the original apes films this one actually feels rather happy and a victory over apocalyptic and bleak, despite what actually does happen in the end.

I thought it was pretty good, not amazing.
