i was wondering if any of you watch this~ the newest movie is "Pirates of the Carribean~ The Fountain of Youth"

I thought it was called "On Stranger Tides" and I really really want to! like badly!

I'm not really holding my breath for the new one since the last two since Black Pearl have just been so-so. The lack of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley make me feel a little better though.

I'm gonna watch it. Eventually.

Its a thread about Pirates ofthe Caribbean. Perhaps you're new to the internet, or maybe sectioned things in general? Threads are made with a topic in mind - the people who post in that thread are expected to talk about that topic.

It's wild, I understand. This kind of system almost borders on common logic.

This part of the forum is called Movies - so it is the correct place to put it. That, however, does not mean you put in whatever thread you like. "just a thread" doesn't equate to "just a place to post whatever I feel like".

Stay on topic. Stay in the correct section. Use a little common sense and realize that the internet is not a giant wall waiting for you to graffiti.

Sorry if I came off as "stinging" to you, on multiple occasions. Note that I don't try and single anyone out, in fact I don't even keep track of who I say these things to, so the fact I've had issues with your posts more than once should mean something.

Anyhoo, back on topic.
A couple of my friends have seen this already, and some said they were kind of disappointed at it...
Can I get a second opinion on that? Who else saw the movie? I for one was excited about it, but from the mixed reviews I've been hearing I'm not so sure anymore.

maybe people were disappointed because they were expecting something bigger than PotC 3 which was epic (yeah DAVEY JONES!!)
and maybe because -warning -> spoiler i think-

only 4 black pearl members came back but don't worry because the movie showed how awesome barbossa (my fave char btw) is and his almost "best friend" relationship (i think.. again) with jack sparrow

Baffle means to confuse. Again, I don't hate you personally - it's on a post-by-post basis. But again, if you've been scolded multiple times, just pay more attention to etiquette.
And yes, this is primarily an English speaking board - most of us are native English speakers, though not necessarily. It's fine if you aren't, because that wasn't the problem.

So what you're saying is, the movie is more of a side-story in the same universe as the other movies? Because if that's the case, I see how it could be disappointing - though I'd probably watch it anyway.

So... am I to assume this thread is about the new movie? Or just Pirates in general? Oh well. The new one really wasn't much of a fantastic movie. Sure; it had a few moments of that Pirates of the Caribbean flair, with convoluted escape plots and interesting fight scenes/character conversations, but what I thought really lacked in the new one was a sense of direction. Sure, "let's go look for the fountain of youth" is clear enough, but that's about as much as the viewer got. I'm not just saying that it was hard to follow, (Though I thought it somewhat was; but nothing bad enough to break the movie. It was always more of a "Oh, they're here for this so that they can do that," as opposed to "Alright, so now that they've done this they can go there to do that." I felt a step behind the plot the majority of the movie.) I'm saying that the movie lacked direction and forward motion. Even getting to the climax, I didn't really feel drawn in or excited about it. I was along for the ride the entire time, but never really a PART of it. And for those of you worried about a lack of Bloom or Knightly, don't worry about it; their roles were sufficiently filled by a much cuter couple. This news should also bring relief to the rest of you who can put aside your worries that fan babble wouldn't bring back to life two very finished character plots. Overall, On Stranger Tides felt like a sequel in almost every aspect, with unnecessary references to past movies and everything. The end of the movie in particular fell short of anything satisfying, and really brought out the sense that On Stranger Tides didn't expand or develop, but instead attempted to find and reproduce what captured audiences in previous Pirates movies. Such watered down results aren't really the stuff of great movies.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. The writing was awful, dialogue barely witty, and to be honest, it screamed "FINAL SEQUEL". Poor Cap'n Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp...I wonder how much money they had to pay him to convince him to be in it without Keira Knightley..

LOVE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.

I missed Keria and Orlando though, but it was good. There has to be a next one because of the ending we were given.

"On Stranger Tides" was my first POTC film, so there was nothing that I could be disappointed about. I thought it stood well as a film, and I really enjoyed it. I definitely need to go watch the other three now!

Anyone know when the DVD is coming out?

(and I totally ship the couple in this movie <3)
