I enjoyed it. Don't go there expecting something serious though, Thor was always cheesy in his own way, which i thought was fun :D This movie is similar in that regard. It has some pretty good humor, and the special effects are awesome. Asgard was freakin sick.

For what they had to work with, I thought they did an excellent job. Acting may have been perceived as cheesy and overdone, but what are you gonna do? They're the gods norse mythology thrust into a modern setting. They did a better job portraying that than I would have hoped.

For a not-well-known actor, the guy who played Thor did a brilliant job. I thoroughly enjoyed every line he had in that movie.
Like this drink.

And of course, the special effects did not disappoint. Didn't really expect much less after seeing the Hulk, Iron Man, and the X-Men series, but it still blew me away.

By Odin, I can't wait for the Avengers movie.

thor................
was so beautiful.

i loved that part with the drink i nearly cried from laughter, and i loved how socially awkward he was. personally, i think it could have given more depth in some parts? no.. it just seemed to move fast. but that could just be me wanting to start at his godly face some more ughhhh.
i swear i was drooling the whole time he was the most beautiful thing i have eve seen.

Thor was a good movie.

Honestly, I'd have liked to see a bit more of Asgard in the movie, and I was a little disappointed.. .by something. Not quite sure what, but the movie felt a bit lacking in something.

However! I agree, the movie's acting was really good, and the cheesy parts or things that seem intended to make you laugh really did get me cracking up.

The special effects were gorgeous, too.

Thor was... painfully mediocre. I wasn't expecting much, and it wasn't laughably bad, but it wasn't actually good either. It was utterly forgettable.

I'm looking forward to The Avengers as much as the next guy, but it feels like they're rushing through the origin stories just to have them over with instead of treating each film as a... well, real film. Instead it's just a part of the puzzle, and a piece we aren't even supposed to pay much attention to.

I never read Thor so I don't know if it stays true to the comic book (I did however grow up with the actual stories about Tor, Oden and Loke which made this version slightly... confusing) but talk about two-dimensional characters and an origin story completely lacking any grandeur whatsoever. Thor is a not very likeable (except for his abs, I suppose), meathead hero. Natalie Portman is... Natalie Portman and we're supposed to like her solely because she's Natalie Portman and she's the love interest. I can't say I found their love story especially moving, or believable, it was just... there, cause Thor needed to grow as a hero and be humbled yadda yadda yadda. The only even remotely interesting character was Loki and his relationship with his father, but that sort of ended up in a mess of clichés too. Even though we did have a bunch of excellent actors starring in this movie (Hopkins, Skarsgård, Portman) they really didn't have much to work with.

Branagh is a competent director so I feel like maybe he should have been able to make the it at least a little memorable, but I suppose the man isn't a miracle worker and most of the problems seem to lie with the script anyway. The cinematography isn't bad, and Asgard did look quite awesome. Although as important as it is that it looks good, you can't just skip having a decent story.

So yeah, not impressed at all and I really hope The Avengers franchise will step up its game and treat every part of it as a film that matters rather than just something that needs to be over with.
