Keep it single, don't discuss shit.

I don't wanna see overrated or overly popular manga like Chainsawman, Berserk or Attack on Titan. Yes, Berserk and AOT are good, but they aren't as good as they're made out to be and everyone knows of them.

Post a cover or a nice mangapanel, tell us the name of the manga, and convince us why we should read it.

Webtoons and manhwa are welcome, too.

I'll start with Akumetsu!

If you're into social commentary, scifi and action, this one might be for you. Definitely go check out the first chapter regardless of what you think and decide for yourself.

Basically, it's a manga about a highschool boy who decides to purge Japan of it's corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Can't go into further detail without giving some major spoilers.

Personally, I really enjoyed it a lot. The art is demanding at times and sometimes the monologues/philosophies can get a little dry, too. But at it's core, it's definitely a work of art worth consumption by those rebels out there that hope for change.

I've decided to post a good manga once a week.

My next entry is Sun-ken Rock!

This one is actually really good, especially in the first 100 chapters. It's about a boy who becomes the head of a mafia so he can take his long-time crush out to dinner (who also happens to be a police officer!). In this story, though, there are a lot of hardships, and a lot of fucked-up people who get punished for their wrong-doings. The protagonist Ken, is by no means, a good man. But he is a great man.

The fights feel hefty, and you always love him for beating up someone. Because they always deserve the beating.

If you like action, Boichi's artstyle and a well writen story, this will keep you entertained for a while.

(also, there is a great Trigun chapter in Boichi's artstyle.)

Gonna give my shot on this one, One Last God : Kubera
Kubera was originally planned to be a novel, but the author decided to make it in a Webtoon instead. Set in a fantasy world with complex world-building & history, the story spans across centuries with characters from different generations. Some were immortal beings who had existed for billions of years, some are humans who were already dead by the time the story began, but still played a vital role in the ongoing plot.

The story is intricately planned from start to finish, and structured more like a mystery than an action adventure story. Except there's no detectives in the story, the readers are the ones supposed to piece together the clues. Just when you thought you had the story figured out, it pulled the rug under you and gave you new questions to ponder about. The best part about it all is when you re-read it again after catching up to the latest episode, and then noticing all the foreshadowing that you couldn't have saw on first read. It makes you appreciate the story more, just how perfect the author has set up everything in the story.

The prologue of season 2 states "This is a war with no villains, only victims" and even if what they did in the story is terrible, they have their own reasons and motives to justify it. You can't help but root for them, all of them.
The art wasn't some top notch that'll make you stare at them for its beauty, but it gets the job done in conveying the character's emotions. And of course, it gets better as the season progresses.

Silver Spoon
A coming-of-age comedy and drama by the same creator of Fullmetal Alchemist. It's about a city boy who moves to the countryside to attend an agricultural school. What I like about it is that it's a story that has serious consequences and sticks to them, even though it's also a very funny comic. The characters are likeable and it explores the ethics of farming as well.

Personally i would have picked soremachi or yorsubato, but since most people see SoL as objectively bad because "no plot" instead i will pick Dorohedoro

Caiman,a man with reptillian head with amnesiac memory. Nikaido, caiman best friend,is a hot girl that can fight but also can make delicious gyoza. You will follow their journey to uncover caiman past and find the culprit who changed caiman's head, In a world where soccerers is an asshole who indiscriminately use normal people as experiment subject. It has an interesting setting and world building. Every character has great personality and chemistry, caiman and nikaido are one of my favourite friendship in any medium.

But to fully understand it's greatness you need to actually check the manga. It has one of the best character design ever, depicted by hayashida's gritty and textured artstyle.

And the best part is that it has already ended, with a statifying climax. So if you do get hooked, you will not be dissapointed

Yo ! I just wrote an entire essay about why Golden Boy is a nice read if you don't mind the entirety of it being filled with a ton of smut, but unfortunately, the entire thing did not post and I refuse to rewrite it.

Just read it if you like comedy and thought provoking stuffs.

>>7 Nice entry! I also wrote an entire part about why I like dorohedoro. Sorry about that. Big recommendation for both the manga and anime though!

Kuishinbo! has a very special place in my heart, the final arc... wasn't very good, it felt rushed but the feeling overall, the creativity and characters... Lovely.
Follows a man following his competitive eating dreams.

My most loved manga series however is Gekiman! An extremely overlooked series following Nagai-Sensei creating the original Devilman.
An autobiographical manga with plenty of exaggeration for interesting details.
You're basically re-reading Devilman with a constant "how was this made" or "what blood, sweat and tears led to this"
For myself it struck the absolute perfect cord, even surpassing Kakushigoto! and Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei who'd previously tied for my No.1 manga spot.
Looking at Nagai-sensei I do see myself, I see similar ideas, concepts and most importantly a feeling of creativity and want to break the rules.

For this week, I've chosen Goblin Slayer Sidestory: Year One !

The story of Goblin slayer is nothing exceptional, except for the fact that it takes an entirely different approach to the "Medieval Fantasy RPG" genre.

Usually, the reader follows a story about a hero, who, through many challenges, grows strong and eventually saves the world by becoming the strongest adventurer and beating the "Demon King".
This recipe is present in most stories of this kind, even in this one.

But in Goblin Slayer, we do not follow the hero. We follow a young man, disrespectively named by his fellow adventurers "Goblin Slayer". Unlike the other adventurers, he does not strive to become a mighty warrior and slay beasts and dragons. He does not care about fame or riches. All he cares about are goblins. Although goblins are regarded as some of the weakest creatures of this world, Goblin Slayer does not downplay the dangers they pose to small villages. He takes any request he can to slay these furious little beasts and we get to experience his cold-blooded killing spree, his bloodlust, and the adventures on which he risks his life!

There's definitely something different about this story that compells many to enjoy reading the sparsely publishing chapters.

I can only recommend you have a go at it.

Been a while since my last entry.

Coming up: A couple posts at once!

First off: Freesia

This story follows the protagonist suffering from very apparent shizophrenia and hallucinations, who also happens to be a highly skilled ex-military, we explore the world and characters of this world.

In my opinion, the strong points of this manga are the characters and the "cinematography".

Just reading the first chapter, you're convinced you're watching some 20 year old movie that you've been told to watch by that "one friend" who knows all the gems.
As for the characters, they're all written with their own set of stories, dreams and motivations. Even if they're to be killed off in the next scene, you can feel the life in every single one of them. When the manga focuses on a certain character for a chapter or two, you feel invested. You want to see them survive. For those who do, for as long as they do survive, they develop. They adapt and evolve! Not a single character stays the same over the span of these 82 chapters and everything feels alive, eventhough the atmosphere of the manga is grim and dark.

The best: I can't tell what's real and what's not with this work. The protagonist being mentally unstable leaves a lot to you to piece together.

I REALLY REALLY hope you check this one out, because it's genuinely a masterpiece. Not a single second of boredom.

Next up: "The Fable"

This is mostly a comedy manga, with elements of action and drama.

We follow the story of a legendary assassin who has to lay low for a year and gets to experience a normal life. He's staying at a Yakuza's hideout and of course, things don't go smoothly. Soon enough, he gets involved in messy yakuza wars and has to use his skills to protect his friends and his secret identity.

I still haven't finished this one, as it's a rather long read with around 190 chapters, but it's made me laugh out loud many times. The action is very thrilling and interesting. It can drag on at one or two points of the story, but overall it's a really nice read. It manages to entertain well, especially in the beginning.

I'm looking forward to the finale!
