Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants. Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Elen and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind.

Hadn't seen an AoT thread and somebody kindly mentioned to create a proper SNK thread. A really great anime AND manga, I'm sure everybody has heard of it at least once.

SNK is also known as Shingeki no Kyojin or Attack on Titan.
It's about 3 people named Eren, Mikasa, and Armin who lived in Wall Maria until the colassal titan came and destroyed everything and killed their families. They join the Survey Corps and yeah

Oh man I love this manga. I am completely caught up and am dutifully waiting for the newest chapter! I have also watched all of the anime! (In one day no less!) It's pretty brutal though and I know it makes my friends uncomfortable though...

GUYS, do you know at which volume or chapter of the manga did the first season of SNK ended?? I'm still not sure if I'll read it because I think the animation work of this serie is AWESOME, surely one of the reasons why I've loved so much the anime, but waiting until 2016 is definetely sad...

I think it'a safe to star from book 8, or chapter 31 or 32. The manga has a different feel than the anime, the art is really different
