Living under an authoritarian regime is not fun. Extensive censorship meant no Facebook, no Youtube, and no porn.

Fortunately for Vance, being a hacker makes scaling the Great Firewall a walk in the park. With the free web at his fingertips, Vance should be happy but he’s not. Maybe there’s something missing in his life that porn just cannot replace.

Maybe it’s a girlfriend.

So it’s not weird at all to hack into the university to assign himself a hot female roommate, right? That’s just taking fate into your own hands, or something along those lines, right?

Too bad fate had other plans in mind and Vance is dragged into a crazy conspiracy to overthrow the government by his most-definitely-not-female roommate.

College is meant to be exciting, but not this exciting. Between failed dates, failed grades, and maybe not quite failed hacks, Vance will slowly come to question the morality of his actions and the true price of freedom.

Is this what democracy looks like?

The Author of this story is Wenqing Yan also known as Yuumei in DA. She is a UC Berkeley graduate class of 2012, Practice of Art major with a focus on environmentalism and cyber activism.

I personally love this series though it has slow updates. But thats what keeps the yuumei loyalty in me. <3
She is my all-time favorite artist. And I'm somehow proud of the 1/4 chinese blood I possess.lol.

Actually.. its not about Hacking and Bad Roommates.. its about Revolution and fighting for what right. Yuumei simply uses modern technology to fight irregularities that the government implies on us.

Oh, I love this comic!

Just read through a bit of it.
The bad side is it seems to over do it on the references. Everything from brands to interests to speech. It's one thing to draw from what you know, it's another to almost directly copy it. The other down side is the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired. Some parts sound like conversations on a bad blog site. While it may be about a hacker there's no reason to put emoticons. It's a comic. Let the illustration talk.
The good side is that the artwork is amazing. It's the reason this thread caught my eye in the first place. I can't express enough how great it is. The style's a cross between some of the best manga and comic artworks I've seen. The intro presents a great hook. The setting is presented quite well. The premise of the story is interesting to put it simply. The title itself is pretty good as well when you think about it.
I think it's great so long as you can overlook a few parts. After all nothings perfect.

Yeah exactly. I may not enjoy some of the dialogue but most of it's fine. Plus everything else overshadows it anyway. Just figured I'd put it out there.
So far it's awesome. Can't wait to see the rest. Whenever that may be. Also I'm actually not familiar with her work until today. So I really don't know what to expect. I'm a traditional comic guy. Never read web comics before.

She hasn't particularlly copied anything. She simply put in a few pop-culture images. The story takes place in a future version of our own world, in a new, closed off country between China, Russia, and the Middle East. For pete's sake, they have pirated Rud Bull. It's quite something of a country, and you notice that not everyone uses the same manner of speach. Be sure to read her annotations at the bottom of each chapter, and read a bit on the fisheyeplacebo.wikia.com pages. This story has a lot of potential, and I haven't quite seen anything like it before. Keep a close eye on the small things in each scene, as they actually have decent significance to the plot at hand.
