Juts try throwing some things out there! Like, what genre do you want your manga to be? Is it horror? Romance? Comedy? Once you pick the genre the plot will come easier. And as for the characters, make them whatever you want. One character can be quiet and mysterious while another can be loud and energetic. There's thousands of things you can do for your manga. It's all up to you but if you need help with a plot then look around and try to find something that you think is cool. Literally you can use anything for your plot so just look for some inspiration! I hope I helped. :]

I love making manga, but I kinda sick at it. Lol, the art anyway. I'm a writer so I'm good at story. But I don't have any fresh ideas. Sorry.

Hey, I wanna hear something more about your story, nanii. What is the genre? What about characters?
And by the way, I´m thinking about plot too :D some supernatural (slightly demon) comedy with little bit action and maybe shounen-ai (that one is questionable). And werecats. Don´t forget werecats :D

I would argue that this could go in the literature board, unless you're writing for the manga and not for the story itself.

In which case, I don't have much to say to you.

A story should be illustrated - you shouldn't write a story with just the illustration in mind. If you're making up a plot just because you like manga, you're in danger of producing shallow characterization and storylines. You'd be restricting yourself to the standard you see in manga, which would end up more like replication than originality.

See >>6 for exactly what I mean. The fact that the story is being described by a sweeping genre name and what romantic subplot is involved means it's 90% fanservice and 10% vested interest at best.

I'll say more in the lit board if you're actually interested in making a coherent story with reasonable characters. Otherwise, have at it, draw a long haired pretty boy with a dark past and their Manic Pixie Girl romantic interest fighting dark and edgy silver haired bishie demon bad guy man.

>>7 well, to tell the truth I just started with storyline (as first thing, not the second) not knowing any specific about characters looks. It´s just too troublesome to tell what is story about without making it too long :D . And werecats are kind of cathalysator of story, so...

But anyway, seems like you are kind of profesional or at least good recenzer. Which one? :)

I don't consider myself professional in any way, what I said up there just makes sense to me. If you write with just the characters in mind, you tend to sideline the plot and themes. If you write with just one subplot in mind, your story will end up shallow.

I hate to use this comparison, but take Twilight for example. The story is framed as vampires vs. werewolves or something, but the story itself is completely focused on the love triangle between extremely 2-dimensional characters. Most everything that happens is simply to add drama and texture to that romance subplot, and the rest of what might have been a decent plot is more or less sidelined.

I can't argue that that kind of story sells, but I'm primarily against pandering to an audience like that. If your story has an important character-oriented subplot, that's great - but it should work as an addition to the story, otherwise, what's the point of the rest of your story?

I apologize if I came off a bit callous, but I hope my point of view on it makes sense. If anything, I would say to focus on what makes the story unique - what's the driving plot? The story development, the premise, and the complicating factors? I'm not saying it's bad to talk about characters, but if that's all you have then you don't really have a story at all.
