Knite is an unfinished 8-10 chapter story
Yuumei of deviantART is working on. Currently on chapter 4. She's an amazing, inspiring artist. As an environmentalist, she dedicates much of her work to spreading the word on pollution and similar problems. This very story deals with such themes.
You can read Knites here.Knites takes place in China, a country filled with so much pollutions you can no longer see the stars in the sky at night. Sen, described as a dreamer, has taken upon himself to put stars in the sky. He has his own reasons for doing so.
Sen stays up all night and skips school everyday to fly kites with lights attached to put stars in the night sky. He eventually gets some help to fill the sky and the Knites are formed.
Kai, the realist son of a thieving politician, confronts Sen on his work one day to say thank you on his sister's behalf, who greatly appreciates the stars in the sky. Sen doesn't like him at first, having his biased opinion on politicians, but Kai ends up convincing him to start attending school again.
Later in the story, getting more into the plot, someone begins cutting down the Knite's kites while they're still in the sky. This realist disagrees with the Knite's message and intends on stopping their work.
This amazing, beautifully drawn story deals with many themes. Such as stopping pollution, child abuse/abandonment issues and others.

Oh, I remember seeing this a while ago, but I never got started with it.
First thing I saw of it was
This though. I just really liked the music, and the animated artwork. Never actually looked into the series it's for.
I'll keep it in mind though, thanks for posting about it.

Knite was an excellent story, and I actually want to do something like that one day. Just hang lights onto a kite and fly it in the sky. Seems nice and peaceful.

It's personal too as the artist bases these comics from her own life. For example many fans think Kai is based on her as she was the daughter of someone who had to do corrupt things. ( memory is a lil hazy can't remember exactly what) She has other comics too so i suggest you check out her facebook too. And you know she's making her living out of this so i'm quite proud of the amount of populrity is has!

I've read alot of good webcomics,(No rest for the wicked, Megatokyo, Hetalia, etc.) but Knite is one of the most artistic and poetically powerful webcomics that I've ever read. The art is simply amazing and the story line is very cool and meaningful. Yuumei deserves more recognition than she currently has and an awesome prize. Also, thanks you ultispy for making this thread and introducing me to the awesomeness that is Yuumei! :D I can't wait for Fisheye Placebo to come out!!

I absolutely love Yumeii's work! I watch her on dA and get so excited seeing her new stuff. Fisheye Placebo is one of my favorites and 1000 words made me cry. I related to it a lot.

Yumeii's work is absolutely astounding. I love it so much, along with her herself! She's such a darling. Knites is definitely worth a read and it doesn't take all that long to read in the first place. The relationships between each character and the twists and turns in the story are completely and utterly amazing.
