Are Video Games an Art Form (5)

In the last few years of school where no learning takes place, I find myself desperately trying to find new knowledge. Recently, I've delved into studying various forms of art. The question in place would be, do you, the art community consider video games worthy of being called and being studied as art?

I do. I also think art takes shape in ant form you want it to.

A video game in itself can be as simple as cards on a computer to the 3D effects of Skyrim.
It has many forms of art within the style and graphics of gameplay, and if you consider playing an 'artform' then that is entirely up to you. As for me, I really just consider them games that I play to pass the time.

I think that a video game can be a work of art, like Xenogears, but what about video games would make them an art. The story? The visuals? The music? The combination of the three? Or something else?

BEing an avid video gamer, its obvious.

All video games have their art mixed in with story, graphics, style, gameplay, etc.

Take Skyrim for example. Massive world that is just beautiful with lovely music, and then Eternal Sonata which has Chopin's music and a whimsical artistic look to it, and finally, Patapon, which is nothing more than a 2-d sidescroller with simple four button gameplay and yet lovely backgrounds fror the little eyeballs to march through.

So, it depends on the game itself.
