I'm actually going to back up Xero here.
Appropriate response to a duplicate or misplaced thread: "This thread was already made/is in the wrong board. Here is the old thread/correct board: [link]"
^ it explains the problem, and fixes it. Nothing else needs to be done.
Inappropriate response:
>>2^ doesn't even explain the problem, so you just come off as an asshole. They aren't even aware they're doing something wrong with this response, and the post serves no purpose other than hazing.
Unnecessary response:
>>6^ I've been seeing people telling the mods what to do in terms of a thread quite a bit. I think their judgement has proven to be good enough to do so without people directing their workflow.
>>5 is tentatively okay, but still unnecessarily glorifying of seniority. If you're going to be a tight-ass, you do it to everyone regardless of if they're a new member or not, and you sure as hell don't imply you treat them differently in that respect.
>>8 almost does the same thing.
I understand you're all following a precedent set back when it was completely necessary to be this strict, but with sage posts and a moderation system intact, what's the point of this lack of civility? Intimidation tactics? Touting superiority? On repeat offenders and blatant idiots it's somewhat understandable, but it's a bit tiresome when we're this unwelcoming to every single newcomer regardless of their intent.
Damnit this would have made more sense as a new thread or something - I'm not defending OP, OP was still wrong and for silly reasons.
