My personal favorites are Pieter Claesz (his still lifes are amazing) and Lizbeth R. Jimenez (she's an amazing up and coming mangaka with a stunning art style). Pieter Claesz is very famous. His still lifes are very realistic yet dramatic, and he uses his colors perfectly. Lizeth R. Jimenez uses contrasting, unrealistic colors in a sketchy art atmosphere. When you look into her character's eyes, it feels like they're just going to rip you apart. They're both amazing, in my opinion. The pictures of theirs attached to this thread are my favorites of their art right now. [Sorry the pictures are pixelated a bit. I had to resize.]

Is rule 3 really mandatory? I was hoping this thread could be the "not your art sharing thread", rather than an in depth thread of favorite artists and artworks. It could be either, but I think the former sounds easier.

Honestly, I doubt anybody is going to pay attention to the rules. They're just there as an attempt to keep the thread from getting spammed with random pictures and no source/explanation.

Ok, I will gush about one of my favorite internet artist people, because I'm not educated enough to know 'proper' artists.

Phobs.

I really love this person's stuff. He has a really gorgeous style that's pretty much instantly recognizable. He doesn't do grand scenic pieces, mostly sketches and people. What I like most about his work is how wonderfully he can mix different tools and experiment. Pencil, charcoal, watercolor, you name it and it looks great. And he's simply a master of faces. I just generally love everything about everything.

Since people don't seem to get the point of this thread, I'll just fill it with my own pictues.

This one is from the tumblr inthenameoftragedy. I'm not sure if that's the original source, but it's one of my favorites.

I just love the way the colors are. It's so playful and busy.

This is from the tumblr kuronuma-chan. The colors and theme of the picture are really interesting to me.

This is from the tumblr jezzgray. I love grayscale artwork, and they really pulled off the minimalistic feel perfectly. The writing on the bandages added that interesting touch, as well.

This is from the tumblr kokoro-iro. I'm not quite sure how to explain why I like it so much. I guess because there's so much going on, there seem to be plenty of stories that you could tell with it.

This is from the same artist as >>13. Again, I love b/w art, and the sketchiness works in this case. The expression of the character and the exclamation point make it humorous despite its lack of color.

This one and the next one are both from the tumblr ephemeraldance. I love their artwork ;u; The undertoned feels in this are ♥

I love the details and patterns in this one. I'm a sucker for patterns.

I'll post some more serious artwork (translation: things that aren't from tumblr) later, but for now, I think this should be enough for you guys to understand that this is the only thread you should be posting art that isn't yours in. (>' I promise I won't bite. Just give credit and try to explain why you like the image/artist.

Ok then, so I'll go right ahead with some more nice artists from the internets.

1. tir-ri/Riikka Auvinen - on DeviantArt - on tumblr

Because watercolor is great basically and tir-ri is really good at it. Her art is colorful and clean and really lovely. Most of the things she paints are set in a bit of an eerie fairy tale world and I like that a lot too.

2. bluealaris - on DeviantArt

Since I started with watercolor, this artist's stuff is also really really good. They also have a webcomic called Oscura made with another artist, but it sadly stopped updating.

3. Mezamero - on DeviantArt

There's something about the colors pop out and the cool back light that I really like about this artist. I don't have what it takes to comment art, but I really like their style, whether it's a simple sketch/two color piece or a more complicated one.

4. One of my favorite Pixiv artists, their username is 斎賀時人, so I'm just gonna go with that.

Their art has a lot of overlaying things and vivid colors and it's just really beautiful and creative I think.

Also, Barabi, saucenao.com is a great site for sourcing art, especially from pixiv. Some of the stuff on tumblr is edited art without a source (like >>11 or >>12), so it's pretty easy to get fooled.
