Sadness, artist's block. (6)

I don't know what the deal is. I used to draw all the time. All the bloody time. And now, I'd even say I'm really good at it. (I'll come back and scan some work in later, but I'm way too lazy and sleepy right now). I don't know if it's just other built up stressors in my life, my surroundings, or what, but I can't bring myself to draw like I used to. Drawing a character doesn't create a whole new world in my head.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips?
Sad~ ;-;

It may be that you're putting too much pressure on yourself now that you know that you're good and you feel like you're supposed to churn out amazing artwork all the time. When you don't, you feel frustrated and it puts you off drawing, because you feel that you won't be able to do anything that's up to your standards. Or you may be enjoying the fact that you're really good at it and thinking that you don't have to work as hard anymore, so you've become one of those artists who are proud of being artists and talk about their work more than they actually work. I had problems with these two, and I solved them by putting less pressure on myself, focusing on the process of drawing rather than the result and making a deal with myself to draw a certain number of times a week. Also, looking at other people's art always inspires me to draw myself. Hope that this helps you :)

Oh, and I'd love to see some of your art :D do you have a deviantArt account? x)

Or maybe your just thinking to hard and not looking around for inspiration around you from everyday things. I'm the same way as you are. I draw all the time and I'm finding it hard to draw just anything. I've resorted to drawing OCs of mine and other peoples. What I tend to do is just look around me and whatever catches my eye I build off that. Plus being an amateur photographer as well I also draw whatever comes to mind from that. So my advice is just take a look around and if something comes to you just quickly draw it before it leaves your mind.

Hey, I'm having this problem right now!!! But I sort of figured out why I can't draw like I used to... For me, it was lack of motivation and inspiration. My sister also said that it was probably because I needed the right atmosphere. Meaning, I needed people who can draw like me at school. I find it really hard to draw too. Right now, I guess I draw whenever I feel like it which I think is a REALLY bad thing... :l

i myself went through the same thing but i just picked up a sketchbook and i drew random stuff then looked closely to see what was in the mess to get myself going again

Your insightful replies are appreciated...
>>2 these are some good points but it's weird, I don't even really talk about my drawings at all. I don't look at them as much anymore myself.
>>3 >>4 inspiration hits me at the weirdest times, and the most inconvenient ones. The atmosphere isn't the best, either... lol.
>>5 My sketchbook is like rotting in a corner right now haha...
I really need to just get all this other crap in my life in order and I think that would help but stuff seems to pile up, and I'm not good at clearing my mind lately. >.>
I don't have a deviant art because I figure 1. 50% of the people there are better than me and 2. I don't have time for that
Lol. I have one but I don't use it. I might. Idk >_>
