I finished my notes and was working on some sketches of my characters when the teacher came by. She ripped up my art and threw it away o.o It wasn't just doodle stuff, either, I had actually shaded and gone into detail. It's not like I wasn't paying any attention or something. Has this ever happen to you guys?

It's been a while since I had a teacher that gave a shit whether or not I was actually taking notes, as long as I shut the hell up.

I wouldn't say teachers aren't allowed to do that, since technically anything non-academic is not sanctioned on school grounds, but I do call bullshit on such an extreme reaction.

That happened to me in 7th grade health class. After that I just drew and doodled all over the papers I had to turn in and my binders/folders/etc until the teacher got fed up with not being able to read my work. I don't remember whether she told me to stop drawing on my papers or not, or whether I stopped or not.

I hate it when teachers think they can just rip up your artwork and everythings gonna be okay. However once I hit high school I brought colored pencils and the works to class and everyone was fine with it.

Something similar happened to my friend: She was completing a manga panel and it was very detailed when the teacher came up behind, took it and crumpled it up. At the end of the lesson, she asked why my friend had it out in her lesson and she gave the teacher cheek, so they ripped it up...

They were character sketches for Cilia's Fangs >\ I had finally drawn them decently. The majority of the pictures on the table weren't even drawn in class; I had just taken them out for reference, yet she ripped those up, too.

A teacher almost did that to me. I threatened her with my chair, table and scissors. It works. I'm now avoided by teachers as well as classmates. Not that I mind, I still have my individual group of friends.

It didn't really happen to me, but I was there when it happened to my cousin. We were just hanging out in the room and drawing together with my brother and a friend of mine. My cousin isn't that good an artist but she drew pretty well and it took her a while. Later that day, my aunt was really irritated and yelled at my cousin to clean up her room. She grabbed the drawing, which my cousin left lying on her desk, and yelled at her for "not throwing away her trash" and then tore up the drawing right in front of my and my cousin. We both tried to get it from her before she ripped it, but we couldn't do anything...

You know, I could understand if if I wasn't paying attention or if we were doing something, but we were just taking notes. When I finished each set of notes, I would work on my drawings until she moved the notes on the board up. I don't know what her issue was. Later in the year (after I made this thread), she did the same thing... WHEN WE HAD A FREE DAY IN CLASS. What. The. Fuck. I told her after that that I'd send the principal a letter explaining all of her complaints about him that she's said in class.

Needless to say, she fucked off for a couple months.

She's such an asshole. All she does is put notes on the board, and while you're trying to take your notes, she rambles on about completely unrelated things that have nothing to do with history. Half the times, she's complaining about how she hates her job and how kids are annoying and history is so repetitive to teach, et cetera, ce cetera. Not that she knew how to teach, of course.

Hmmm... Never happened to me, but when I was in my sophomore year in high school my math teacher said she wanted me to put away my sketch book when I enter class. I got kind of pissed off because it was disrupting my grade and I had a "B" in that class!! D:<<

Wow lol, i always get caught but they never really rip up my drawings in class, they just confiscate them which is actually a bummer for me... =3= i guess you artists also have to suffer for their art....

Almost everytime I'm in class, I draw, for a little my teachers would take my stuff and throw it away. But since I never really cared unless it was something I seriously tried on they eventually stop giving a fuck. lol

I can't believe a teacher would do that; it is incredibly rude.
At worst, I have been asked nicely to put my artwork away. Most of the time my teachers ask to see my work and they comment on it.

I constantly doodle over my notes/work and write in french/jap(mostly babble) and my teachers expect it from me because I'm weird and as long as it doesn't obstruct my work and it's not disruptive they don't care. And when I run out of room there I draw on my arm.
It is incredibly rude and destructive of her to do that.
I'd still try and report it, at least then you tried.

Oh, I hate that so much. I always pay attention when I draw, yet the teachers always make you stop drawing, or rip the awesome art up. I know that feel.

Teacher said my doodles needed to be at home or she would hurl once. Once.

My sixth grade teacher took my notes, saw my doodles, and crumpled the paper into a ball and threw it at me.

my teachers don't care wether or not I am drawing during the lessons, as long as I complete the work, they are cool with it.
