Noragami is an anime from the 2014 winter season, produced by Studio Bones, licensed by Funimation, and consisting of 12 episodes and one OVA. If Bleach and Soul Eater fucked and birthed this, Beyond the Boundary and Binbougami Ga raised it, sent it off to Monogatari High where it graduated to attend Flowers of Evil University...
yeah, this is the resulting show.
Main character Yato is a stray god of war, accomplishing little tasks to help people in order to collect enough yen (he only charges 5 per task, so this will take a while) to get his own shrine. Until that happens, he wanders homeless, advertising where he can and defeating abstract creatures called phantoms - blobs of evil will. By combating them with a Regalia (shinki) - a loose spirit from a dead human that can turn into a weapon, gods can accomplish the destruction of phantoms and help the community, who otherwise can't see them but...
well, it works.
So Yato finds a new Regalia named Yukine who's a bratty pain in the ass most of the time and tries to find a cure for this girl Hiyori's becoming a half-phantom after an accident. They go around places and talk to other gods and Yukine and Hiyori start to realize they've gotten themselves into a larger mess than they originally thought. Thanks a lot, based Yato.
So yeah, that's pretty much Noragami.

Personally my favorite thus far from the winter 2014 season, not anything particularly unique, but all its elements work, the characters are likable and the direction are fantastic. Give it a go, will ya? /o/

I haven't actually watched the anime. However, I've read the manga, and they are just getting into a really good arc involving *slight spoiler alert?* the masked ayakashi. If you liked the concept of the anime, I encourage you to read the manga. But not on MangaHere, because they jack this solo translator's work who has already stated she doesn't want that.

:( I really enjoyed this anime. I mean, usually, when an anime changes direction from the manga in order to have a conclusion, I find that the ending is very unsatisfactory. However, Noragami, despite the ending being different from the manga, was rather good.
You should definitely read the manga though!

I really love the Noragami anime and so sad that it ended on ep 12 and with filler nonetheless... I'm currently catching up on the manga and I wish they'd make a season 2 of this, the mangas getting really good with the bishammon arc and all the other chaps that follow

Tbh Yato was such a cool character, because despite what he's seen and had to do, he still played off a funny/derpy character, but in an instant can switch back into a dark war god.
