Released simultaneously around the world, Space Dandy is the love child of Studio Bones who have made Eureka Seven and Fullmetal Alchemist and ShinichirÅ Watanabe who made Cowboy Bebop is the flagship of the spring season. It follows Dandy, an alien hunter who is "a dandy guy in space", in search for aliens with his robot assistant QT and a space cat who says he's not a cat named Meow. It has a riveting soundtrack of jazz and techno matched with fantastic animation. My god, it is funny and while it may be the one series that could launch into another generation, it does not take itself seriously...well the first episode has the entire cast vaporized but not really much of a spoiler. It's good. Check it out

I just checked out the first three episodes and for what it is it's pretty fun. The fan service is pretty honest and not as annoying as other shows might get, the main characters are hilarious to watch, and the random moments that happen while random are still fun. Just don't go into this show expecting deep heavy plot, it's a fun wild ride watching a crew of alien hunters and their mishaps around the galaxy. Plus boobies. In every episode. I am not kidding.

I enjoy this anime so much. It's nice to sit back and enjoy some light-hearted, unserious crap for once. I really like how all of Dandy's escapades lead up to a point near the end of the episode where we feel like we should have learned something deep and serious but it gets ruined by hilarity that follows shortly after. The thing that makes me wonder is if it's going to get serious because I can see this show going into two different ways. My first question is whether or not this show is actually going to get serious somewhere down the line considering the people who are making it. Cowboy Bebop was pretty leisurely until the later episodes where things started to pick up. My second idea here is that that Space Dandy is just the creator's way of creating a total joke for once.

not gonna lie, I was expecting less and less of this with diminishing positive fan response but I watched the first two episodes earlier (dubbed) and they were pretty solid.
Kind of pointless for anything other than time-killing entertainment, but I don't regret killing time by watching it.

Two years too late? This series has been giving giggles and endless fun for the past few days. I love the psychedelic art style and the sporadic plot/timeline - although I can see why this would turn alot of people off
Watanabe has done well to write another space opera that (I feel) alludes to and compliments, but completely differs to Cowboy BeBop. I believe it was his intention to set the two in the same 'universe', possibly in different time eras - not a solid or watertight argument but similar to the way Tarantino incorporates his films within themselves
