A group of 15 elite high school students are gathered at a very special, high class high school. To graduate from this high school essentially means you'll succeed in life, but graduating is very difficult. The school is presided over by a bear called Monokuma, and he explains to them that their graduation hinges around committing a murder. The only way to graduate is to kill one of your classmates and get away with it. If the other classmates discover the identity of the killer, the killer is the only one executed. However, if they fail to catch the killer, only the killer graduates and the others are annihilated. Which of the 15 will survive the bloodbath to come?

I find myself enjoying this one a lot. I hear many people say it's bad and way worse than the VN, but I like it. The style can be something to get used to, but since murder-mystery anime are somehow rare, I really anticipate the next episode to find out what happens next.

I'm liking this show but at this point it is getting easy to guess who killed whom

It's easy to guess because the anime gives out many hints...
It's too short for only 12ep, and the producer have to make sure those 12ep include a whole PSP game=.= so the anime looks hurry...by the way, excellent story!! lol

Liked this show, thought the ending was suuuper disappointing.

Thought this was really average in most aspects, below average in some, and above average in none, and yet it was one of the shows I anticipated most each week when it aired in the summer.

6/10 or 7/10 for me.

In my opinion, I liked the OP actually. The whole story was really entertaining- giving out the series of debates and such. In summary, it's a pretty average good anime for people who love mystery. It's not /the/ best, but just good enough that I like it

I'm pretty sure there'll be a second season, as in the last episode, Usami came to the screen, so I guess that this might be a hint..
And dear lord, the anime's ending song is so awesome! Like, the music and the lyrics fit so well to the story!

Although i really enjoyed the show i feel as if it was much too short and everything was rushed a bit.
The animation was unique tho eg. pink blood :D

I just finished it about 3 days ago.
I was so creeped out when I heard Monokumo's voice.
It was the voice as Doraemon's, my childhood character. *runs in circles*

Anyone looking to get into Dangan Ronpa really should read through a good Let's Play first; there's soooo much the anime doesn't cover and it's /just so intense./

It'll keep you way more on the edge of your seat and it's just fantastic!! I can't wait for the second game's anime. This series is just so incredible.

There must be a second season to this and be based on the second game, as I've searched there are many characters in the next season(If there is any.)

Do not love anyone in danganronpa, odds are they will probably die and make you very sad. The second game is also incredible, but yet again, so many deaths. The execution animation style is amazing to watch though.

Just a little point about this show... (might be a little off topic) Is there anyone else who was bugged by the whole murderous fiend title? I mean why not just make it serial killer? To me this makes the situation much darker and in a good way. I dunno but for some reason murderous fiend just seems less intimidating than serial killer...

If you still haven't watch this then good, I recommend playing the game rather than watching this, it's much more thrilling and exciting, it's not rushed and you can go at your own pace, you find the evidences on your own, and point the person you suspect at class trials.

I loved the anime It had been my favorite for a while so sad that the characters died though.

Case in point,high school dxd. The anime is essentially softcore porno.

While the manga has amazing world building that unlike Naruto can actually be followed properly.

No, there's not. They made the anime for the first game but not enough people liked it so they didn't make one for SDR2. There's Danganronpa 3 (Future, Despair, and Hope) and there's SDR2.5, but both are REALLY spoilery for the second game. If you're looking for more Danganronpa, I'd recommend either playing the games (because they came first before the anime) or watching playthroughs on YouTube. There are some pretty good ones. NicoB is my personal favorite. Because the games are the originals, they have a lot more detail and important information, and they're just better in general, in my opinion. Then you should watch Danganronpa 3, alternating between Future and Despair, and then watch the Hope arc, and then SDR2.5.

I finished the first season but I have yet to watch the rest of it. It's not the best but it's definitely a good anime.
