Since he was young, a teenage boy named Natsume Takashi has been able to see youkai, but keeping this ability a secret has now become a heavy burden for him and has made his life difficult.
This begins to change when Takashi inherits his grandmother's "Book of Friends." He discovers that she, Natsume Reiko, shared the same ability as him and starts to understand why he was always targeted by both good and bad youkai.
After learning the true meaning behind the Book of Friends, which allows him to manipulate the spirits listed within its pages, Natsume undertakes a journey with his bodyguard, the infamous spirit Madara, to free the spirits of their contracts with Reiko.

I've been meaning to remake the old thread, but now it seems I don't have to, yay.
This series is really nice. And even though it's episodic after 4 seasons you notice that things actually do move forward and with each season I kind of like it more. And Natsume is such a darling.

God fucking dammit this anime is great. In terms of drawn in storyline, interesting characters, beautiful art and original plot ideas, this anime has just about all the qualities of a real jewel. Madara is still one of my favourite characters of all time too.

I'm actually watching Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou right now, and I got to say, after watching the first season, I'm really enjoying this show. The atmosphere is great and the episodic stories are easy to get into. It reminds me a lot of Mushishi, which is also really cool, but I feel that Natsume is easier to relate to.

At first sigh i thought that this anime would be boring, especially because i don't like the old japanese ghost, demons and stuff like that. But finally i really like it, the characters are lovely and interesting, and the whole show is relaxing.

Honestly,this anime is the only one i would never get bored of re-watching or talking about. it was just so damn great. it had funny moment,thrilling moments and sad moments in which I easily cried..I am really really hoping they'd make a 5th season..though I'll be honest,I am starting to lose hope.

its still updated nearly 6 years(could me more or less dont remember) after the first season, and its just in general really nice to watch. Characters are fun and interesting and the plot is episode by episode.
