Makoto- School Days:If you've seen the School Days anime, you'll know what I mean. Makoto is in a love triangle with two girls, one girl thinks that she is Makoto's girl friend and the other girl is the one who is actually treated as a girlfriend. Makoto is a cheating scumbag. He is the worst kind of person. The funny thing is, even though (in my opinion) Makoto is the worst anime character ever, he is still my favorite, i guess it's because he [spoiler alert] dies in the last episode of School Days in a very violent fashion.
Professor Kakuzawa- Elfen Lied: So... he takes Lucy/Nyu away from Kouta and Yuka and then tries to have sex with her after he puts her to sleep with some happy fun time drugs. Another scumbag character who is killed in a violent and gory way.

Renge Inui from Air Master. I watched this anime a looong time ago, but I can't remember ever hating a character more. Her voice, her actions, and just her ridiculous amount of annoyingness. She is honestly the only reason I stopped watching the show.

While he's insane, which is a trait I like about characters, His personality was a complete let down! All the build up was "He's a murderer with something big planned, he killed 2 women on their wedding day in front of their lovers, hires murderous gangs and has kidnapped and brainwashed Wendy's brother."
But when you see HIS character development, he's "A calm old man who values life and doesn't want to kill anyone"

I agree with Kerra-Chan.
Even in shippuden, Sakura is still basically useless. Even after the training she got. Even when Kishimoto-senei tried to have her play a big part she always had to be saved or something else intervened making her seem like a side character or something. I also agree with her rather unattractive personality and attitude towards Naruto.
But another character I see completely useless would be momo from bleach. I mean she practically disappears for most of the series and then when she finally makes a debut

If it's the crying you want to talk about, let me let you know that Allen cries just as much if maybe not more than her (admittedly my statistic is from the manga, but I think it still counts for something).
Hindrance in battle? Remember that time she kicked that Level 3's ass when it attacked Anita's ship and nearly lost her life being badass? Saving everybody cost her her power and then she couldn't fight, yes. But then when the Black Order was attacked, against everybody's advice, she put her life in danger, took back her innocence and saved everybody's ass again by being the first person to kill a Level 4.
Yeah, she's cute. Yeah, she smiles. But she does it for everybody else, because they have a shit job and she thinks it's nice for them to once in a while have somebody smile at them and be nice. She's got her moments of weakness, but so does everybody else, and she's shown on enough occasion how brave and efficient she can be.
It's always the same argument with girls in fighting anime. Sometimes it's correct, but sometimes I really don't think it is.

Bacchi-Gū, Ichiban-Boshi, Tenjin from the anime "Green Green"
I couldn't pick just one because they each have their own level of disturbance.
Bacchi-Gu is the heavy one and the most open with his pervertedness, going as far as wearing the underwear of the girl he's stalking, and even(or at least attempting to) sexually assault the school doctor(a grown woman)
Ichiban-Boshi thinks he's the player with game, just because he reads tips out of an out-dated, sexist advice book and puts "the moves" on any girl, and ultimately fails.
Now, Tenjin is by far the creepiest on in the group, He wants one girl to call him "big brother" and seems to confuse food with sex, thinking that eating a lot of food in front of girls turns them on *_*..... not to mention HE BREAKS INTO THE GIRL'S ROOM AND LAYS DOWN BESIDE HER WHILE SHE'S SLEEPING! Oh, but not before eating and smelling her... that's what he does, he east some, sniffs her, eats, sniffs, eats, sniffs.....WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THAT GUY?!?!
While I do understand and even enjoy the role of the 'comical pervert' and understand the importance they have, What those three do are down right illegal, borderline RAPE even!
They even go as far as to REMOVE A GIRLS SHIRT AND BRA BY MEANS OF FORCE IN A PUBLIC AREA, all so they can get a "boobie print". Why? their answer is to get to know the girls better........ How about you freaking talk to them!?!

The way I see Kyoko is as a Mary-Sue (excuse fanfic talk). She's just "soooo awesome"! She's the #1 idol in the class. Every thing she does is "sooo cute"! She does absolutely NOTHING in the anime or manga that has been useful except for getting kidnapped and causing trouble. And Ryohei is always complaining about getting Kyoko involved with mafia. 2. Rosa. Worst mother of the year in one of the best animes I've ever watched. Child abuse physically and emotionally at its finest (read: worst), I was glad that Maria committed some wicked matricide.
3. Haru/Kyoko from KHR. I really don't see their role in the plot and honestly in Tsuna's love life. Neither of them are really equipped to be the wife of a mafia boss and I feel like they held Tsuna back in the beginning of the series.

Her captain (who she clearly had feelings for and was very close to) died a horrible death. She was the one to find him pinned to the wall with his own blade and his blood running down the building. Who wouldn't be traumatized after that? Who wouldn't do anything to make their death mean something? And then, when she's finally recovering, to find out that he was manipulating her? To find out that he was behind everything horrible that had happened to her home and friends? To find out that he had tried to kill her?
Momo reacted to that like an actual person would. If this happened in real life, I bet 9/10 people put in that situation would be mentally and emotionally traumatized by that kind of event. It really bothered me how calm and collected every other character was about it, because, com'on - that's not something you can just walk away from. Toshiro and Rangiku had a couple of fucks to give to it and understood that she was going through something really bad, but everyone else just seemed to become passive about it either immediately or within the next few days/weeks.
Admittedly, Momo would annoy me a bit as a person just because of her normal personality. However, from a viewer's perspective, I think that she was one of the best characters out of the entire series.

Excalibur. I'm currently watching Soul Eater, literally. im on episode 28 in another tab. I looked here and saw his name pop up A LOT before i saw the first episode he was in. i was like "this guy? but he looks so cute and harmless!"

I think the anime character is despise the most (and when I say despise, I am being nice) is Orihime Inoue, from Bleach.

Dubbed Naruto makes my ears bleed, and subbed Naruto is still pretty damn stupid. At least he's not completely retarded in Shipuuden.
Orihime is one of the worst female characters I've ever seen. I hate her passionately, because she's absolutely useless. At least at SOME point Sakura was useful, albeit rarely...but Orihime never did anything except cry, get kidnapped, and get used as bait to lure people into traps. She's utterly worthless.
Masaomi in DRRR pisses me off to no end when he runs away from Mikado and Anri for (what I saw as) no reason. Then even in the light novels he's a pussy/bitch. His attitude and demeanor is really annoying as well. I don't know how anyone likes him. He was alright at the beginning but got worse and worse as the anime went on.
I'm sure there's others that annoy me but those are the main ones that are on the top of my head at the moment.

Shizuo's brother is far more important later on in the novels. I'm not really sure why they put him in the anime at all outside of a light mention, since the sections where he's actually important aren't in the anime. If I remember correctly, they put him in the pointless extra episode too, which was made after the main anime had ended and they had no intention to make more, it was silly to include him or Izaya's sisters in those episodes because they had no relevance in the anime.

I think she only likes him for how he looks and that he is "talented," not for how he is inside or how he treats her. Wow a lot of people hating on Naruto characters that probably haven't seen enough shows. I mean yeah I get where they're coming from but there's worse characters in other series but that fail as "characters" rather than what most people dislike about them for other reasons.
For me at the moment my least favorite anime character has to be "Akemiya" from Whispered Words. I don't hate the guy or anything just the way his role is sort of handled and his characterization kind of falls flat for me. For those that don't know he has a crush on the main character Sumika who isn't into guys (I.e. it's a yuri) so he takes on a... shall we say, "interesting" approach to court her. The result of this, the way it plays out, it just didn't sit well with me. So he's least favorite or worst for me, at the moment.

This is just my personal opinion and I mean no disrespect to those who do like them but...
Sakura Haruno from Naruto. Even though I find her to be a realistic character, she is never actually interesting to watch. I find her boring and bland and her obsessive love for Sasuke to be rather amusing seeing as she barely knows him. I wonder if she even knows what type of food he likes to be honest. She's not really the type of character I'd ever want for a main character but there she is. She improves as a person and character in Shippuden but only a bit. Also a bit of a pet peeve but I think a lot of people forget that she kicked Ino, the girl who stood up for her against bullies and was a true friend, to the curb for a boy she thought was cute. People think INO is shallow? Come on.
Yukiteru Amano From Future Diary. Another realistic character. But also uninteresting. The core of his character was basically a loner who was dependant on others...and that's kinda...it. Aside from his flaws as a person there really wasn't anything else. Sure he's got a good heart sorta and he grows a tiny bit stronger later on but....he was just kinda boring. Thus why Yuno sorta stole the show even though I actually hate her too. I found Yuki's tolerance of her to be very annoying. She was just too yandere. Too much to take. Anyway back to Yuki. Generally speaking I think your average Future Diary fan isn't going to go "Man I want Yuki on a t-shirt!!!". I challenge the masses to name 3 things about Yuki that isn't "Dependant", "Loner", or "Boring". (I actually don't challenge you. This is retorical)
Misa Amane from Death Note. Basically a boner killer. A boner I had for a really cool manga and show. Misa Amane was put in because the author wanted a cute character. I forget the exact quote. Serious stories seem to occasionally like throwing in comic relief and Misa Amane I think is exactly that but done a bit too far. Maybe if she was a bit more subtle like Matsuda....but nah she's in your face. And yes there ARE people like that but...when people started reading Death Note I don't think they were hoping for some hyper loud idiot who seems like she belongs in another anime.
Yanagmi Fuyumi from Blood Lad. She exists to be a love interest. That's basically why she was created. She is your bland moe character with big tits that exists to be oggled at by the characters and the audience. Blood Lad is actually pretty cool but the love story between her and Staz really kinda stain this series.
Rei whatever from Highschool Of The Dead. Your typical loud angry whining girl. Realistic though. She really put a frown on my face anytime she appeared or said anything.
Kagome. Kinda the same reason I dislike Rei.

Usually, the girl characters in action anime such as Sakura Haruno, Misa Amane and Lucy Heartfilia. I would deem them as incredibly annoying characters who are somewhat shallow in some parts (Sometimes most parts) in the anime. It really does spoil it for me sometimes.
Mikasa, Faye Valentine and Kaname Chidori are exceptions though. They are spunky and awesome characters that have a cool personality.

There's a lot more to her character than just being a spoiled princess who lost her dad. I can see how Fairy Tail's blatant style of fanservice might make that get lost between the cleavage for some people, though.

There are so many to choose from, it's so difficult..I guess you could say that I don't have a specific hatred for one character in particular, but a specific type. My beef regarding Isshin wasn't really with the character as much as it was with what they did (or rather didn't do) with him. After he showed up and helped Ichigo out with his fight with Aizen, I was hoping we'd get some backstory on him, things like why he left the Soul Society and why he didn't save Ichigo's mom even though he's clearly still able to use his Soul Reaper powers, stuff like that. Oh well, here's hoping they go into at least some of that in the arc that's currently airing on Toonami.

Administrator - SAO - *SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE ALICIZATION ARC OF SAO* She manipulates all of the Integrity Knights by taking their memories and personalities from them and replacing them with fake ones, and she kills Eugeo (after manipulating him). Eugeo is one of my all-time favourite characters from anything ever.
Asuna - SAO - Don't get me wrong, I liked her at first, but then she just lost all sense of badass in the light novels. I have nothing against her in the original web novel, because she actually stays badass through the entire series. But they changed her a lot when they published the light novels, including taking away my favourite scene from the first arc where SHE WAS THE ONE TO KILL KURADEEL, NOT KIRITO.
Izaya - DRRR!! - He just makes me SO ANGRY. He's awful and a dickbag, and I just can't stand him.
Roka - Oofuri - I HAVE NEVER HATED A CHARACTER MORE THAN I HATE ROKA. He's a cheating, lying, scumbag, and I will never not hate him.

I have to agree with most of the people who said Sakura is one of the worst characters in anime history xD She's irremediably useless (even Kishimoto regrets making her a main character),annoying (especially in the first Naruto series) and , pretty much , selfish ( *cough* the false love confession for Naruto made just for forgetting her feelings for Sasuke,anyone? *cough* ).However,I still ship SasuSaku xD How ironic...
One last thing,for all those who trashed Misa Amane from Death Note : yes,she might be annoying and her love/obsession for Light is unhealthy ( duh,that's the point ) , but she can be a relatable character at a certain degree ( for me at least) and since she got introduced she definitely made the story more interesting and helped it progress.I think she played an important role in the story's development,therefore , you can't consider her a bad character given the impact she had on the action,just like in Izaya's case.

Elizabeth from Black Butler is annoying in the anime, yes, but if you read the manga, it is revealed that, despite her annoying love for cute things, she's quite badass.
Still not my favorite character, but I gained a little bit more respect for her after finding this out.
