Pride was an awesome and very effective villain, but my favorite bad guy from FMA would have to be Kimblee. He was twisted, but in a sense not entirely hateable, so he was very interesting to follow. Also, you gotta love a villain with class.

There is L (Death Note), Izaya Orihara (Durarara!!), Beatrice (Umineko no Naku Koro Ni), Amaimon (Blue Exorcist), Kyubey (Madoka), Walpurgisnacht (Madoka), etc. etc.
Well I think antagonists have their own special charm ♥

Guys, villain and antagonist aren't exactly the same thing.

The villain is an evil character. The antagonist is the protagonist's opponent. Now, because most of the time the protagonist is the Good Guy, the Hero, that makes the antagonist, the guy he's fighting against, the Bad Guy, thus the villain.

In some cases though, like Death Note for example, the roles are reversed. So even though L is the antagonist because he goes against Light, he's still far from being a villain. He just doesn't have the morals of one. Light on the other hand does, which is why he's generally seen as the villain, even though he's the protagonist.

So yeah, antagonists are just opponents and they can be good or evil or very much in the gray area. Villains are mostly evil. Just felt like sharing that.

I have to say Envy from FMA and FMAB. And also Izaya, although I don't know if he's a villain or not. But I still hate him for messing up Masaomi's life.

I guess it would be Izaya for having Celty's head and screwing with people but I love him too,one of my favorite characters in the anime/manga.

I'd have to go with Alphard from Canaan. She's brutal, intelligent, and pushes Canaan to her breaking point. I love villains who keep me guessing and help the main character grow, and Alphard certainly delivers.

Too all the people who said Greed from either FMA or FMA:B, he's really not a villain. He was a bastard, he did some bad stuff, but he really wasn't a villain. He even worked with the heroes in FMA:B after merging with Ling.

I originally said Alphard from Canaan. I still stand by her being an awesome villain. But I'm going to add to that.

Pride from FMA:B. He was controlled by Father, but the fact that he's a cute little kid just made him more creepy, plus he ate one of his brothers.

The titans from Attack on Titan, although they are really just thoughtless killing machines, they kill people in extremely brutal ways and cause pain wherever they appear.

Nox from Wakfu, his story was so tragic I actually liked him as a person. He may have been insane, he may have butchered an entire kingdom to reach his goals, but he was a damned likable person at the same time. I just wanted to scoop him up and make him feel better. Plus, if he had succeeded, all the pain and suffering he caused would never have happened.

On that note, Quilby from Wakfu. I didn't like this bastard at all. Although his story was just as tragic, he was willing to sacrifice an entire planet just because he was bored. But that's what makes him such a great villain.

Cheshire from Pandora Hearts. Although I give the anime a C-, I give Cheshire a B+. He was entertaining, I liked his motives, and he had an interesting design and my favorite back story from the whole anime.

Ladd from Baccano. Interesting dialog, completely sadistic motives, plenty of violence, and a dash of insanity. Although he deserved it, I didn't want him to die, the anime would have been less interesting without him. He completely outshines all other villains in Baccano, in my opinion. The only one who comes close is Goose and I thought his motives and methods weren't nearly as interesting.

I guess Izaya counts as a villain. He arranged the original gang war for kicks, he pretty much started the second gang war, he stole Celty's head, he got Mikado's girlfriend beaten up because it was useful for him, he manipulates everyone he comes across. Although I like him as a villain, I hate him as a person.

Scanty and Kneesocks from Panty and Stocking. These two challenge the protagonists and bring out the best in the anime. Their motives are great, their music is great, their fighting is great, heck, everything about them is great. Plus I just love it when they get mad.

The student council vice president in Angel Beats, at least until he joins the good guys. Except for that vague NPC at the end, I don't really see any real antagonist or villain in this anime. Naoi only halts his villainous ways because of Otonashi, but before he does, he causes many of the characters considerable pain. Plus, he continues to be a jackass to everyone but Otonashi even after he converts.

My favorite anime villain is Kuroha from Mekakucity Actors. He's superfast, resilient, and insane. But somehow he reminds me of Jeff the Killer. But he didn't get much screen time, it was somewhere around 5 minutes.

My favorite all time villain has to be Makishima Shogo, because he is so cunning, and ultimately behind his obvious crave for murder he has a good reason for becoming a villain, he goes about his plan in the wrong kind of way for sure, don't get me wrong I love the typical bad to the bone villain who is just a villain for the thrill of the kill and all but, I can see his reasoning for becoming a villain in the first place, and I can't say I find fault with his reasoning, he also is amazingly smart and he calculates his moves thoroughly before going through with them, he uses people for his benefit then smiles while their being killed, he is knows what he wants and has the brains to back it up, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty and takes pride in his ways,all in all, he is a truly great villain to watch.
