The Empire of Britannia has invaded Japan using giant robot weapons called Knightmare Frames. Japan is now referred to as Area 11, and its people the 11′s. A Britannian who was living in Japan at the time, Lelouch, vowed to his Japanese friend Suzaku that he’d destroy Britannia. Years later, Lelouch is in high school, but regularly skips out of school to go play chess and gamble on himself. One day, he stumbles on terrorists 11′s who’ve stolen a military secret and is caught by a member of the Britannian task force sent after them, who is Suzaku. As the rest of the squad arrives, Suzaku is shot for disobeying orders, while the military secret, a young girl, gives Lelouch the power of Geass, which makes anyone obey any order. While Suzaku is secretly made the pilot of Britannia’s brand new prototype Knightmare, Lancelot, Lelouch becomes the masked Zero to lead the rebellion to destroy Britannia once and for all.

I like this thread better than the previous Geass threads, it actually has a description.

I first saw this on Adult Swim when it first aired in America. Very quickly my friends picked up on it and it was our favorite thing from start to finish.

Lelouch has a superiority complex rivaling the audacity that Light from Death Note had. I always like protagonists of ambiguous character, in that you aren't sure if they are the good guy or the bad guy - it's much more realistic and objective when morality is ignored for a much broader purpose. I can't think of anyone more deserving of the diagnosis of Chessmaster complex.

I don't wish to spoil the ending or anything, but the way everything culminated, making you doubt everything you had seen so far, only to lead into The Reveal at the end was incredible.

This anime was so epic!! Lelouch is a genius! Love it.

I thought this and R2 were really good, but I liked Lelouch's voice in Japanese better. I think it fit the character better.

Admittedly, the Japanese voice was deeper and more ominous sounding, fitting his Zero persona; the English voice was much more mild (Johnny Young Bosch, you and your shonen anime archetypes), moreso fitting the facade he puts on.

They were both cast equally well, for different reasons. But I do agree, I cared more what his Zero voice sounded like, so I would prefer his Japanese VA.

Hey I heard somewhere that they are going to make another season of Code Geass. Do any of you know if this news is real or if its someone just making up rumors.

If I remember correctly, it was meant to be aired sometime this year, but it was put off.

The manga, Code Geass: Shikkoku no Renya, is currently being released however the group that was doing is really far behind now. A fair amount of people don't seem to like it, although they're probably just 'whine-no-lelouch-whine-suzaku-where' people.

It's supposed to be about what's going on in Europe a year or two before the time that Lelouch started his rebellion. I can't cite the exact source since it's been a month since I found it, but I am amoung the many who mourn the ending of R2

Actually, I think it ended fine. I don't think it needs a 3rd season; if anything it'd probably ruin that great ending if Lelouch was alive. The idea of concentrating all the evil of the world and destroying it for peace is a great way to end a series.

And what I mean by that is there will probably be a cameo.

Though if it is before the events of R1, then I don't think I have any qualms.

Just finished the show in two weeks and omg it was amazing like the best thing ever. Just so many plot twist on every corner I never saw coming and so many heartrenching scenes! I haven't been this impressed by an anime in a long time I just loved it and I thought the ending was fantastic. Unlike most fans though I don't really think there should be a season 3 or whatever the ending was amazing I just don't think you could top an ending like that, I was plenty pleased with how everything ended. Still it was amazing beyond words and I am sure I am going to go in withdraw, I think the reason I liked it so much is somewhere in my crack twisted mind it reminded me of like a futuristic fire emblem ... idk maybe it was just the music but yah Im just saying if Haar would have been a nightmare pilot, shit would have been over in like 15 min of battle.

Code Geass is awesome! xD I love Lelouch (probably second favouritest character teehee) but I think it would've been better for him and everyone if he really DID die. Maybe he's alive, we don't know, but I think it would've been an awesome enough ending if his death was the only thing he didn't lie about, since he's been lying to everyone all this time and if his death was a lie too then that would just be plain awful :(

From what I've seen, R3 is only a side story in the manga. It's in a different time setting featuring a boy who gets his own geass. Of course C2 is in it, but all the other characters aren't. For such a small storyline, I can't see the producers making a third season :I The most it could amount to is several OVAs.

However, if you have any proof, please show me. I'd love to be proven wrong.

R3 is actually a major prequel to the series set way further back in the history.

I just finished up Lelouch of the Rebellion the other day, and I conclude that Code Geass has become 500% more awesome by introducing the Gawain - a Super Robot, rather than the Real Robots everyone else is using. Lancelot doesn't count as a Super Robot, just a Super Prototype of Real Robots. Not only that, but R2 features the legendary SPIKE SPENCER, one of my favorite VAs of all time! Can't wait to continue it once I have time.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ANIME. this is my favorite anime, i loved the mech fights, and how they added so many good plot twists. although i checked out the r3 manga and was dissapointed. it wasnt as good as the first two

There isnt a season 3 as you guys are thinking. There is however an announced (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-04-22/code-geass-gaiden-bokoku-no-akito-project-announced) anime that will be called Code Geass: Bokoku no Akito (Akito the Exiled), but it does not appear to have any of the old characters and merely occurs in the same world.

Everyone shut up about R3 because there isn't one. A 50 minute OVA was release. It takes place BETWEEN R1 and 2. Code Geass: Akito the Exiled Episode one. They'll be releasing new episodes once every few months so don't hold your breath...

A lot of fans who don't like the ending think that it's true. One of them is the one who created this theory. They think that he killed Charles and gained immortality. Another clue would be CC talking to Lelouch at the very end.
A indirect clue I could think of is:
"There will always be evil." Lelouch's Death wouldn't change it. But at the end Lelouch represents the evil, so to keep the message, Lelouch must have gained immortality. Otherwise this believe would shatter.

But there're also fans who deny this theory, because it would ruin everything he did up to this point. What >>199 said is important, too. Also think about what CC said when Lelouch was killed. It is an indirect hint for his death. CC talking to Lelouch at the very end doesn't necessarily have to be a prove for him being alive. She could've been talking to herself, after all.

Personally I don't really care if Lelouch is dead or not.
I liked the ending the way it is. It's an open ending, leading to all those theorys possible.
Being an anime-lover I can understand everyone who want a sequel, after all you don't want it to end.
But then again...What would it be about ? If the Sequel would be terrible it would ruin the anime's name.
To prevent this: read the mangas, re-watch the anime or read/write an fan fiction (I don't know if there're any good ones, though...)

All that is, in my opinion, a prove that Code Geass is an amazing anime !

Why'd it take me so long to watch it?!

And about the ending: The creator left it open for fans to interpret. Whether CC was asking that question simply because that's what characters do after a loved one dies and they know they're watching over them, or the driver was really Lelouch. Personally, I go for the former, but the latter would be nice. They could travel the world together happily while eliminating traces of Geass for eternity, watching over their friends.

This series may have had flaws, but the ending was perfect. I can't wait for the third episode of Akito the Exiled, with "Julius Kingsley."

I liked the first season but I wasn't a big fan of the second one

This show reminds me of the film V for Vendetta. A masked protagonist fighting against an oppresive government, or empire in CG's case. They even had a female counterpart who was with them alot. Even down to the mass collection of V's and Zero's where a mass crowd dress as them.

Love Code Geass the story is so rich and great always keeps you guessing if you haven't seen it before worth the time to watch both seasons. Didn't like rolo too much though kind of a prick for what he did to Shirley.

Code Geass is one of my favorite animes. I actually hated it at first because this was back in my noobish days of anime where I thought Death Note was the best thing I've ever seen and I needed another obsession. A show just as great as it. A lot of people suggested Code Geass to me and after watching 3 episodes I kind of hated it. However, once I got past episode 6 my life went downhill from there. Wonderful show with an A+ plotline enough to shit your pants from all the suspense.

With another episode of Akito the Exiled coming soon, I hope they continue the anime canon. I love Code Geass so much because it has this huge detailed world but also awesome mechas and well written characters.

This anime is da best it will be my all time favorite mostly being because it was my secend anime ever watching attack on titan being my first(du) of course it has its setbacks which of it being alittle old but that does not set back its achivements on catching the watchers and make them watch it all night and the watcher which has school the next day would have to be a drooling zombie thinking of when he could finish code geass.

This anime is really interesting, one of my favorites. I truly enjoy Lelouch's character. He's amazing, and no one, in this anime, could compare to him, in my opinion. Unless I'm forgetting someone. The one thing I found annoying was Suzaku, and his 'I'm going to change Britannia from the inside' talk, yet I've seen no progress. He's claiming that the thing he is doing is morally right, but Lelouch is doing the same, but going a different way about it. This was obnoxious. Though, at the end, I warmed up to him only because of what he did for, and the fact that he cried for Lelouch. I also found Kallen, and Euphemia quite irritating. The only female characters I didn't mind/like was C.C., and Corneilia. And to clarify, I'm not saying that I dislike all the other female characters. Except for Shirely. I strongly disliked, borderline hated Shirely. That is half the reason I favor Rolo.

I just finished rewatching Code Geass. The 1st time I ever watched it I was like "Holy whack this is amazing." No matter how many times I see the end I cry a little. It's like "WHOA". It's one of my favorite series honestly. Is Lelouch dead or alive? I like to think he is. If he's actually dead then oh well it is what it is. There are so many arguments on whether or not his death is confirmed that it doesn't matter. Lelouch is alive to me and that's all I'm worried about.

Charles was the one who killed VV. Charles stole VV's immortal code.

Lelouch made a request to the collective unconscious (god) to stop Charles from stopping the march of time. Charles' existence started to fade and in his last bit of time he transferred his immortal code to Lelouch (you could see it in his hand).

It has been shown that someone with an immortal code has to die before their code is activated. Like the nun killing CC.

I will quote Lelouch from the last episode of season two. "Hey Suzaku, geass power is similar to a wish, don't you think. It's a request to someone to give you the power to achieve what you can't on your own... I'm going to grant a wish called geass to all the people everywhere. For the future of the entire world."

This is followed by CC praying at an alter and saying: "Lelouch, the price you're going to pay for using your geass on them is a dear one." CC then sheds a tear.

I believe Lelouch is immortal, his father made sure of that.

I've re-watched Code Geass at least 10 times now and I'm still amazed at how surreal and entertaining it is. I've been looking at the book "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu recently and I think a lot of ideas in the book can relate to Code Geass. Why the fuck would Lelouch be alive? He's a God who sacrificed himself to save humanity from war. He made the whole fucking world follow his plans and was ready to die for it. He ain't no pussy trash who would try to live a pathetic life as an exile. The reason why he's arguably the best anime protagonist of all time is because he planned everything from start to finish so that he would unite the world by making himself a villain of humanity so that when he spreads his arse for all the world to see towards the end, he can get penetrated by his best man and make the everybody live in peace and glad that the boss is outta here. Remember: he's like a motherfucking Jesus ya know. He knows that he's carrying all the world's sins so when he dies, he knows all the people he killed will be at peace and Lelouch himself will be at peace for killing millions.

Finally rewatching this. Enough time's passed that I've forgotten all but the most major details of the story.

Lelouch is Alive! When he killed his father ,who was immortal due to gaining the power of a Code, his fathers Code latched onto the only physical body in the room which was Lelouch and in doing so he became like CC not able to use his Geass anymore but he was instead turned immortal.

My God. I first saw this back in December 2020-Jan 2021. I watched one episode a day and after finishing I watched the OVAs and 4 films then binged the 2 seasons in a week then watched the OVAs and 4th film then later in the year I brought the blu-rays to both seasons and binged the whole series in 2 days. God, I love this show. I've never cried so much watching a show.

The first intro song, I always put the volume to max and blast it. I genuinely believe that song to be a masterpiece and the series to be written by some kind of divine force. My favorite series and franchise of all time, after finishing I read so many fanfics online.

I did spoil the ending of R2 by going to the wiki page for Lelouch. I still cried at the end, knowing it was gonna happen. Also on my second rewatch I cried during nearly every episode of season 1 because I knew what was gonna happen and it was so fresh, having just seen it. Damn, no show will ever make me feel this way again. Those emotions I felt watching it the first time are one of a kind. I cried just writting this. All I cab say now is this- All Hail Lelouch!
