do you remember on friday nights watching dragon ball z, and samurai x, on toonami with tom and your buddies. was any one else sad when thay pulled the plug on it cuz i was nearly in tears watching tom fly in to the sun set. if it wasnt for toonami most of us wouldnt be here right now. am i right?

2 Name: J. Kryswell : 2011-09-18 01:28 ID:um1zHX2U [Del]

I was just thinking about toonami not to long ago, and it was amazing. I first watched one of my all time favorite animes on it, Yu yu hakusho! Toonami and adult swim jugled it, and Inuyasha for a while. Anyway, Toonami, freak'n awesome, and it needs to be brought back. It made Fridays awesome. Yu yu hakusho, Inuyasha, Zoids, Igpx, etc... totally miss it!

I wish adultswim would show anime every night, and bring some new one's into the mix.

same here, or at least bring back chaploo...

6 Name: 砂漠の雨 : 2011-09-18 11:28 ID:L4jYZdIL [Del]

I remember toonami as well. I used to watch Code: Lyoko on it, dragon ball Z, Yu yu hakusho, etc etc. Those were the good ol' days :(.

I also fully agree that adult swim needs to bring back the anime they used to have. They used to have an amazing line up, and now it's just garbage (family guy, American dad, and robot chicken aside[ Save for saturday nights when it's like all anime]).

Toonami was basicly my childhood... damn those were good times.

8 Name: trevor : 2011-09-26 15:03 ID:PFluOONm [Del]

i wouldnt be here right now if it wasnt for toonami. i didnt know about anime, and toonami got me into anime dragon ball z into yu-gi-oh into naruto into bleach. like that i think that for the futer of the next generation it should be brouht back. i mean adult swim is to late for kids, and there is only good animes bleach, full metal so on. but there and there are the few that are old and need to be replaced like cowboy bebop, inuyasha, ghost in the shell, big o, those have been show over and over and over agine. put something else on. dont get me wrong those shows are good they are just getting old, and need to be replaced.

When I was a kid the only shows I'd watch would be on toonami. It was how I destressed after school.

Bringing back Toonami??? Thatd be awesome. (Hamtaro was good/funny lil show) If Toonami brought back shows what show would you like to see on it? Me, id want Yu yu Hakusho, if Air gear wasnt like supa nudy that would be cool to put on, shaman king should be on toonami, Amidamaru!!! hmm, all I can think of at the moment.

Or they could bring back some old ones that aren't showing... like, you know, Death Note and Code Geass. Also some old Toonami stuff like MAR and Neon Genesis Evangelion would be cool.

20 Name: Pandora : 2011-12-13 08:42 ID:lMzQksHO [Del]

I so remember that!! It was awesome~!! It had all the good anime on it. They should bring it back!! And that was actually how I started watching anime. I would stay up way past my bed time on Friday nights just to watch all these shows.

21 Name: Heartless : 2011-12-13 08:49 ID:SXb+DYhW [Del]

Sad to think the new generation of kids and teens won't get to experience what might have been the most creative way to broadcast anime. I remember watching Toonami as a kid wide eyed and full of wonder. Hopefully the previous comment by >>11 is true. I think CN would be wise to bring it back.

actually it's because Naruto had a dead line and they couldn't meet it for Naruto Sippudden
That's how Disney got naruto
Thats also why they showed 2 episodes of Naruto every week they were trying to get past it

37 Name: Shadow Blade : 2011-12-15 01:01 ID:4l1athNo [Del]

I agree aswell. I really wouldn't be here at all without Toonami. First DBZ, Hikaru no Go, and Naruto. Now, Bleach, FMA, and Durarara!! Next, the only one I can think will still be on is Bleach. Unless they do Bakuman or something...funny. All but one are Shonen Jump anime...I miss the good old days

Actually now is the perfect time to contact CN and ask for them to bring Toonami back.
Guilt trip the hell out of them.

Who knows if enough people bother them we might see Toonami back for good. Afterall, they did bring back old cartoons on fridays and gave Ed, Edd, n Eddy it's own timeslot again.

I'm not trying to stir false hope, but during its airing they did say "next week on Toonami on Adult Swim," during a part. Whether this was just to make it more convincingly a joke or not is unconfirmed, and we'll have to wait until next week to see if Adult Swim really was just fucking with us for one day.

Joke or not, it was still nice of them, considering who it is we're talking about.

>>63 Not always. Dragon Ball Z has a HUGE fan base, and I can't think of one person I know personally that didn't hate DBZ Kai. We refused to watch it. And personally, I'd LOVE to Ruroni Kenshin on there. But if they decide Toonami should stay (which they most likely will, since ratings will improve), they'll most likely update to some new animes, but keep a classic or two on there.

>>61 Seriously? Not everybody wants to watch fucking DRRR. Saw it once, it was good, now I'd like to move on.

>>60 Most likely, it'll stay. It's all about ratings, and ratings will definitely go up if they continuously play Toonami.

>>66 Dragon Ball is great and all, but I'd rather see Inuyasha: The Final Act dubbed, Hellsing Ultimate (as monthly movies or something), Funi One Piece, Naruto Shippuden (made all the sweeter by yanking it from the oppressive grasp of Disney), etc. over a show I watched every day for 3 years and every other day now.

>>76 AS only had one anime going that still had new episodes, bleach (and god knows that will not be ending in the states any time soon), and they left that there because they realize it is a popular series and that they can still gain something for showing it. bringing back toonami is probably the perfect thing for AS at this time because they are able to show some old school anime that the new generation of adults can really get into because they grew up with those shows, and let's face it, the "older" adults probably are not watching their saturday night line-up anyways. This is the perfect way for them to boost their saturday night ratings while avoiding having to go out and acquire all sorts of agreements needed to show new anime series. I'm sure they have to pay a little something to be able to re-play some of these anime shows, but it would most likely be considerably less than finding something they have never played before.

Anyways,Toonami was cool and had some really good shows that i loved when i was young, however I can not remember SHIT about any of them, so if they brought it back permanently, and i do not know why they wouldn't do this but, i would like for them to start from the beginning of every series.

I still watch the new stuff, but it will never be as great as Toonami. I thought I was saying good-bye to Tom for good, but now that I've apparently heard Adult Swim is bringing it back, I will cry tears of joy. TTwTT
Anime and manga has taught me so much, so I will always love it this much.

DirecTv has Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, The Boondocks, and FMA: Brotherhood on it's schedule, with a few blank "To Be Announced" spots. What I thought was strange is that there were 3 reruns of the same episode of Bleach. I honestly hope that they don't do reruns of the same episode in one night.

I think old animes should be prominent in the block but still have a couple new animes. Here's a list of what I'd personally like to see.

UNCUT Dragon Ball Z
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Full Metal Alchemist (original)
Naruto
FLCL

>>137 Correction. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the best anime ever. My opinion. Anyway, so what if they aren't going to show Durarara after a while. Just show your support, leave your TV on CN if you don't watch so Toonami will still get the views. As it gets more popular, they will get more money so they can license more shows and gain more block time meaning they may bring Durarara back if we keep asking. That is how TV works.

168 Name: King Dude !zXqFpoplY6 : 2012-05-25 00:54 ID:BrQvTFOP [Del]

I can't believe they kicked out DBZ for Bleach. As soon as the Bleach series ends I want an uncut DBZ in it's place, you hear that Adult Swim!

169 Name: Next The Square : 2012-05-25 01:44 ID:7mcpX9Ax [Del]

>>168 Bleach is a money maker and Toonami doesn't have enough budgeting to buy the rights to more of the bigger anime. Just leave your TV on Bleach and the rest so Toonami can get more cash to get Kai or something. We need to support any decision Toonami makes in the beginning so they can get the funding to get more high tier anime like Naruto and One Piece back. That is why Toonami purchased two new anime a lot of people probably have not heard of before.

>>169 But doesn't Toonami own the rights to the original DBZ?
I'd rather watch 20 episodes of one fight from DBZ than any of Bleach.

Also I hate how it starts at midnight. I liked it better when it started at 7 for the simple reason that I'd be up and able to watch it. Now the day I've been waiting for for like, 5 years (10 if you want to count when we couldn't afford cable) and I can't even watch it because I have to get up early.

173 Name: Next The Square : 2012-05-25 14:47 ID:7mcpX9Ax [Del]

>>172 Toonami only owns what little bit Adult Swim could give them. Toonami ceased to exist so it couldn't own anything. They basically have to start from scratch and work their way up. So spread the word that even if you don't like a show, just leave your TV on it so Toonami can get more views and more funding.

>>173 Augh that blows.
Thats the problem though, I can't sleep with the light on.
I'll do what I can, but it's not something I can help with that kind of timeslot.
I don't have a problem with leaving the tv on for things like Bleach even if I don't like it or care to watch, hell, I'd been doing that most Saturdays while I waited for FLCL to come on, but I have no idea when I'll be able to again because I need to stop staying up that late. It's a shame because I haven't seen many of the new anime and was really interested in seeing them.

For anyone who miss any of the shows that toonami got rid of. Just think after they rerun FMA Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, and ghost in shell they might rerun Durarara, Inuyasha, and any other shows that got good ratings. Who know they might even bring back some of the classic shows that toonami had before it got cancel 5 years ago. So please stop saying you don't like the shows at the moment it will change with time and plus this toonami is still "new".

Toonami's back on now.Its on Saturdays at midnight with a new line-up on adult swim.

Bleach
Deadman Wonderland
Casshern Sins
Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood
Ghost in the Shell:SAC 2nd gig
Cowboy Bebop

209 Name: Anime : 2012-07-15 15:42 ID:/Wd+a4Fc [Del]

i liked the old toonami better (the shows they had on) and i liked the old saturday night line up better (bleach, fma brotherhood, drrr, kekkaishi, FLCL, cowboy bebop, deadman wonderland, ghost in the shell: stand alone, repeat the first 3, and then inuyasha).

210 Name: Rin!3Ny3pQlOh2 : 2012-07-15 17:53 ID:iIeBciZE [Del]

I remember when they had Death Note on Toonami, now that was fun watching at two in the morning.

211 Name: TallFry : 2012-07-16 01:07 ID:J1JWDoXB [Del]

Well, while the old lineup was a lot better, they don't have as big of a budget just yet, due to this actually being kind of a trial period. It takes ratings that can only be brought upon by the Toonami faithful (such as myself) watching it every week. The ratings get them more money, more money means more shows. They're already looking into getting One Piece and Fairy Tail. So, while it's not very big or flashy NOW, give it time and support and they'll get better.

Celty, Kekkiashi ended for everyone. There is no second season or whatever of it.

Also if you're on the net, go watch Durarara. Reruns just is boring. We don't need them if they can fix that. Which they apparently plan to show more stuff sooner or later.

I'm already tired of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I've already seen all of it, that includes the end of it, and that was on Adult Swim. I hope they get rid of showing all previously aired/ended anime, and start showing some stuff they never had the license to before.

I am glad that toonami isn't going to repeat the same shows over on the same night but, could they have pick different shows other than thundercats and sym-bionic titan. I know toonami is apart of cartoon network and adult swim and is still somewhat new since it re-aired but, still they can't just put something on toonami that are for younger viewers that watch more cartoon network than toonami. And plus the shows that are on toonami are for more mature viewers (like 14+ of age that still like cartoon but, want to watch something with blood and non suitable language for kids).

Such a kiddy show really shouldn't even be on Toonami. They could easily do it BEFORE, but that spot on toonami could be used to air new, more mature rated anime. Not even new, but one's they haven't obtained in the earlier years.

Kiddy show or not, it's still enjoyable. Frankly, I wouldn't call it a "kiddy show" just cause it's tame for Toonami's standards, but...

or something like that. Either way, I'm still happy it's on at all.

If I recall, Adult Swim and Toonami are two different things.
Adult Swim, before Toonami starts, is mainly for that dirt joke based shows, and just shit they feel adults and mentally challenged teens would watch. Mostly humor based.

I just think that show would be good on Adult Swim, Saturday nights, before Toonami. Hell, a whole setting on Adult Swim related to those shows before Toonami would be a sort of pump up, and a nod to the younger audience. Then we start Toonami off with a bit more, mature rated Anime for us.

Keep the show, but move it off Toonami, like and hour or 30 minutes BEFORE it starts.

Hello everyone, I am Green Tea and I'm a somewhat of a frequent user of the Drrr chat and mushoku chatrooms. I am also a very long-time fan of anime in general, as well as Toonami.

First off, before I continue, I just want to apologize for making a duplicate thread. I don't go here often and as a result I kinda forget some of the rules now and then, so please forgive me for that.

At any rate, I'll just get right to the point, me and some of my friends came up with an idea to host a Toonami Chat Room every Saturday from now on; so us fans could gather and chat with each other throughout the day, and those who plan to take the six hour challenge (watch all six hours of anime all night, as it has popularly been called), can chat with others who plan to do the same. We just started this last Saturday, and we will continue to do this every week. Until further notice, me and the people helping me to set this thing up will be hosting this room at http://mushoku.tk/

*Now, if you are unfamiliar of what Toonami is, please read the paragraph below.

For those of you who do not know what Toonami is or was (as I have met many who did not); it was basically a sub-channel of Cartoon Network that aired a few years ago. Toonami featured various popular anime (English dubbed) such as Naruto, Bleach, One piece, Bobobo, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop and many others over the time it aired. Unfortunately, for whatever reason it was, it eventually got canceled. But much to the joy of many fans, it has made a strong comeback. Every saturday on the Cartoon Network channel, Toonami switches over at night-time, and streams six hours worth of anime. That's the gist of it, if you would still like to know more, all these posts right on top of me could probably give some insight as well. I'll include a link to the whole schedule at the bottom of this thread so you can see the shows that are currently airing.

Here's the link to the new Toonami Schedule:http://video.adultswim.com/toonami/

And again, here's the link to the site we are hosting the rooms in (until further notice): http://mushoku.tk

All right, that just about wraps it up, sorry if I typed a lot, I just wanted to cover as much as I could on the matter. We strongly encourage those of you interested to join us next Saturday, hope you can drop by.

Having Toonami back has been amazing. Sure, it's not exactly the same, be it time of airing, content, and maturity level. But it still has that same genuine passion and heart that made Toonami so amazing in the first place. I just wish I wasn't busy these days, otherwise, I'd be able to stay up for the whole thing and not just part of the block.
