I think FLCL was an amazing anime, the first time I watched it, I was literally blown away, and i knew that it would change my life, and it did... Although, there wasn't much to the series, and it could have been longer or they could have at least made a second season. I still love the hell out of it.

That said, I'll just reply here.
As I said in the other thread, I have seen this anime so many times already. It's one of my favorites out there. Whenever I notice it airing on adult swim, I stay up to watch it through its run simply for the nostalgia value.
I don't think it needs a second season. Sometimes, when something is over, it's over. This one ended with finality, and its short length punctuates the exponential crazy that it undergoes in that short span of time. It crams all of that experience within its short 6 episodes in a cinematic way - no filler, no unnecessary content, and every episode was unique in its own right.
I don't think it could've pulled off the same effect of a climactic end like it did if it was any longer, either. I get a chill down my spine near the end of the last episode every time.

FLCL is literally just the best anime I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I wish that the average person had it in them to understand the depth and underlying messages that the show takes on. It actually isn't a pointless, plot-less show like one would think - and that's why so many people see it as being a ridiculously stupid show. In reality, it is the most beautiful thing I've ever watched. The metaphors and messages in it are so mind-blowing. It's extremely clever! (And, it's also just really quirky and funny, too). But I do agree with most of what you said. It is a metaphor for growing up. My favorite thing about this anime is how they show how confusing of a time puberty is.
Also, my favorite part is when Haruko says "Takkun is a kid"( I may be paraphrasing.) She is implying that he is a kid in all senses of the word. However, at the end of the last episode, she ask Naota to come with her, and call him a kid again. But when she says it, It is implying that he has accepted the fact that he is a child, and by doing so he is more mature than he was.

Atomsk ultimately channels his power through Naota in the end and Naota accepts that he still has some growing up to do.
TL;DR: FLCL is a coming of age tech demo for animation techniques that Gainax/Trigger would later use in series such as Gurren Lagann, Panty & Stocking, and Kill la Kill; even going as far as reusing/recycling the coming of age element in Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill.
